Well-intentioned invasion?

There presently is some sort of "kids first" type of program going on in this area right now. Possibly it is going on in many areas, I don't know, but the promo lines go like this: "Our kids....Our business....Start the conversation." Then across the bottom of the card reads: "Healthy Kids, Healthy Families, Healthy Community" There are colorful pinwheels involved as well.
Pretty cool, huh?
So why is it that it reads to me like this: "Your kids, Our business, Start the conversion" ????
I'm thinking that replacing the word "Business" with "Responsibility" would be a better choice.
I know the intention is good....Hell, probably better than good, but to me it feels like one more busy-body with nothing better to do than mind everyone else's business tapping me on the shoulder and saying, "You can't do that."
Thoughts?

A worthy cause but something that is a little troublesome when you read their advice on "What to do when an adult is being impatient with a child in public". http://www.jeffersoncountypublichealth.org/pdf/kids_what_to_say.pdfLooks like it was adapted by the Port Townsend Kiwanis from a similar campaign in Virginia. If someone is being impatient with their child in public I'll probably mind my own business, unless that child is being horsewhipped in front of me. Worthy cause but perhaps a little over the top with it's citizen watch on symptoms of child abuse or neglect. If someone is openly beating their child in public,......well, they're an idiot. Am I going to go sniffing around my neighbor's houses to determine if the parent and child "rarely touch or look at each other" as a sign of abuse or neglect,..............not likely.

I would politely tell someone to STFU if they interfered with me reprimanding one of my kids. I do it short and sharp, like the "one minute manager" book states, and it is usually done because of a safety issue.
The boys listen when I bark. There is no mean spirit in it, and it is done to get their attention.
Now a full grown person taking a swing at a kid is another matter.

Mom didn't need to hit us in public. Her favorite line always got us in line "do you really want me to slap you in front of everybody?".
