Caught probably half of it before it put me to sleep. I lost interest somewhere between the historical musings of Michael Douglas and Rudy Julie Annie. There might be a source or two of information out there a little more credible and interesting than those two grin

Something about the History Channel that gets under my skin.

That said,......I'll probably continue watching the series anyway.

Don't get HBO but from what I gather this is Band of Brothers for the Pacific front?

Yeah, I was sorta put off by Michael Douglass as well...

I do like the graphic representations of some of the stuff, like 400 ships off New York, etc.

Not quite. That was a dramatization of what a specific company and actual individuals went through.

Pacific is sort of a film adaptation of Helmet for My Pillow that's been dressed up for TV.

I saw some of it, and I liked what I saw. There were definitely some interesting factoids in there I had never heard anything about elsewhere. The imagery was good as well. Had I been watching earlier, I probably would have watched the whole thing, but I had to get some sleep.

Also just started watching The Pacific, and I have really been enjoying that. Being able to watch multiple episodes of such programming, on my own time and in HD, is one of the few things that keep me hanging on to Comcast, despite their unending rate increases. Cable is one of the myriad markets where this country really needs some good, old-fashioned competition, so suckers like me don't get screwed over quite so severely.
