I might have missed it somewhere but can anyone tell me if there is going to be an extention of the season in MA10? I would assume we wont know about the canal until after Wednesday but i could be wrong.

Nothing yet on anymore days anywhere. They're taking their sweet time and probably won't post a notice until the 12th hour of the day before they re-open. That's their normal behavior anyway.

go to the DFW website, go to the emergency fishing rules updates and on the right hand side, sign up for the automatic rule changes by e-mail. They will auto send you every rule change, opener and news release. Just have to check your e-mail. Easy

Well if they claim we've reached our harvest limit in area 8 then we had a damn low harvest limit. That's half the problem though in my opinion is they never tell us what the harvest limit is. I didn't see nearly the pressure this year compared to the last couple of years.

According the the checkers in Everett the harvest rate was down as well.

I saw an article from the Seattle Times dated 2 May 10 that listed the number of buoys in the openers in 10 vs 09 and speculated about another weekday in MA10 but it appears it was deleted. I thought the link was a summary of that article.

My shellfish buddy called wdfw and said there will be an announcement soon but it will not open 5-12-10 in MA10.

Thursday the 20th will be open in area 11 and disco bay district. no more for 12 or anywhere else it looks like... sure seemed like pressure was down this year where we go on the canal too... hmmmm

My thoughts exactly. When I got the email I got very irritated. This is absolute crap what they're doing with managing our shrimp fishery. Something really wrong is going on. If you notice they purposefully don't post the creel reports for any shrimping boats at the Everett Ramp on either the 1st or the 5th.

There's no doubt in my mind there was less pots and boats in area 8 on the opener and certainly less on the 5th. Yet we get one less day this year than last. What a flat out crock.

Guess the tribes decided we had enough for this year. Must have interfered with the gazillion crab pots they put out last week.

Due to the extremely high catch rates this season in Hood Canal the quota has been attained in four days and no additional days of fishing will be allowed in 2010.

Here, I volunteer in favor of the Department. Teaching about fishes, habitat, and about sharing our public resource at my local Elementery schools. Wow! I might just have to change my tune.

Not looking for any zipper lip holes but I've never shrimped in MA11 though I'm close to it. Any shrimp in Colvos Passage?
