I would hope it would be hard to convict someone that was woken buy thair beatin son in the middle of the night and then was kicked in the head. I love to hunt. My kids love to hunt. I hate the fact that after 40 years of owning guns that I will be packing one around for something other than hunting. I am not afraid of the average person and have not had any problem taking care of myself up to now but regretably those days are gone. If I fear for my kids or my own life or even serious enjury I am no longer willing to just take my chances. Things are out of hand. This country did not rise to power tolerating crap like this. I wouldn't shoot some one running away with my property but if confronted and they come at me I figure they shoud know I may be armed and I will figure the must be planning on over coming me somehow.

Thinking about it, I would have given both them girls wedgies... I'm talking a wedgie where you wrap the band of the roos over their head! They'd have learned the true definition of a Tatonka! Keith Then I would have kicked em in the kamel toe.

I agree with what was mentioned before. If you mess with me, I'll be pissed and most likely do something within the lines and laws or 'fight code.' Mess with loved ones and all the rules/laws/ethics gets thrown out the window and you'd better be willing to kill me before I kill you if things get out of control.

As far as the quote above goes....Not me. I wouldn't even bat an eyelash if someone's messing with my family. It's a no brainer. Put the bitches out of their misery and do the world a favor.

I would never pull the trigger on two women in that situation. If they had a weapon.....even a stick or rock......then yes but no just throwing punches. I dont know if I could justify it in my own mind. Not that I would judge someone who did. I think it all matters how you feel in the situation. I have seen what happens to families when a child is killed in that way. I lost a cousin to a young child while trying to help his drunk father get in his house. Shot climbing in the window to unlock the door. It was tough on his parents and would never want to be the one that took someones child no matter how screwed up they were. Now if I was in my own house and family was threatened.....done deal. Just me.

The tried and true way of dealing with drunks is the TASER. Get one.
My guess is that tasering a person is a lot more fun than shooting one.....

I have to disagree with you JD. Nothing personal. I'd rather walk any street in Seattle (or most streets in Chicago) than a lot of small towns in Washington that I like to fish. None taken and you're right. Definately was not refering to a Wedgewood/Freemont/etc Seattle neiborhoods. 10 years ago, I had a near bad experience in Bridgeport WA with some, I'd assume, locals during a fishing trip. Had my hair standing up on end and I wasn't packing at the time. Also had a bad experience on 23rd in the CD after dark. Disabled motorists are easy targets. Don't ask me how I know. Talk about a bad day that got worse. It can happen anywhere from the 'hood to the apple orchards to the coast. Now Detroit is a different story. So glad I left there! Detroit is the most sketchy place I've ever lived.

And I could end up dead for that reason but I would likely play the odds. Not saying I am right or someone who made the other choice is wrong just that I would have a hard time. Now if you had been the person who did shoot one of them, I am the first person you would want on the jury. No way I would fault someone, I just could not do it and it might be the death of me one day. Just always thought that hands should be fought with hands and weapons with weapons........Of course you never know when one will be pulled and it sure is helpful to be ready just in case.

There was a case a couple of years ago in downtown Snohomish where one shop owner was being robbed by gunpoint when the shop owner next door lay in wait out front. The perp popped out the front door and "bang" right behind the ear at point blank. Never went to court. Wa. law states pretty clearly deadly force is can be used for self defence and to stop a felony in progress! As for me, and I've said this several times here over the years, I will try my best to walk away from most of these types of instances but, if you try and steal or hurt my dog and I'll just have to hope that Dogfish and Aunty are on my Jury!!!

I don't carry often, but I have carefully reviewed every single chick-fight on Youtube.
I feel like I am ready for this kind of attack.

Just last summer up near Wynoochee Dam a camper shot and killed a kid who was raiding his camp, under the influence. After an investigation, it was ruled justifiable, no charges pressed. Can't predict what will happen in the next 5 seconds in a case like that, let alone look forward 10 seconds, minutes, or years. If you don't want to get shot, don't go where you don't belong...on the rez, however, I am skeptical of the rules...so I don't go where I don't belong.

Rules are that if you are a non-native the tribal cops may stop and detain, but not arrest. They must hand you over to county or city police with jurisdiction for arrest. Clallam County Sheriff would have jurisdiction. If you can legally carry in Washington State, carry.
Rules on the flip side are that deputies cannot arrest any native (regardless of tribal affiliation) on reservation lands (depends on each reservation, recognition, etc, but you get the idea), we could only hold and detain for tribal cops to arrest. There were certain roads on the Lummi Nation where we were not allowed to drive, "supposedly".
Some folks here have had more training than others on the use of force.
BTW, the guy who was shot at Lake Wynoochee was drunk, and he was also armed with a machette. The shooter actually fired a number of warning shots, and finally out of fear of his life, and for his son's life, he dropped the guy.
