I've been to the seeker site; which blank model # is it?

If you live in Federal Way come by and get a pole and spare spool from me. I have a few of the older casting poles from the 50's, 60's and 70's.

My vote would be for an old black Harnell glass rod. Top of the line.

I caught many steelhead in the 70's using a Mitchell 300 , FS80 and FS83, and even at times the brown Royal Bonnyl line. I switched to the DAM Quicks and still use the for squid fishing. I have two 300's with spare spools that I would be happy to give away, I live near UW. The FS80 I still use occasionally and the FS83 is somewhere in the Gulf of Alaska. It was being used while sportfishing for salmon for tagging on a Japanese research vessel when the person using it cast himself overboard. Fortunately he was rescued but the rod went to the bottom.

fs79 = SH792, FS83 = SH832, FS85 = SH854

For example, FS83 = 8'-3", 1/4-5/8 oz
IMHO, FS83 was the most versatile of the series.

FS85 is the 3/8-1 oz 8'-6" blank.

Lots of spot on suggestions. I like the Conolon rod and Royal Bonyl idea.
For an in-your-face "I am fishing old school" and I'm gonna make you like it image, I would go with one of those yellow Wright & McGill numbers. Fake the Royal Bonyl with Maxima Chameleon if you can't find the RB.

"Psst, here comes that dude with the yellow rod that rocked 'em last weekend" smile

My original 300 is still in the garage along with several garage sale specials. The original was a rod/reel gift in the early 60s and like Dave I am missing half the rod. Last I saw the tip section was sinking below the dock at Critter Cove - RIP. First steelhead on that combo on N. FK. Stilly fishing with high school buddies including Ron Wilson - now retired guide.
