We took 12 pounds at ilwaco, about two scoops I believe, and Shoemaker buy the ringed small hooks about size one. Hook it on by slipping the hook gently under the coller of the chovie, so as not to kill it. Throw it out with a small egg sinker (weight of some sort) or none at all depending on wind. Put your reel into free spool and when you feel one pick it up yell runner and count to three, throw the reel into gear and hang on. All the while you should have been throwing stunned bait or dead bait out one or two at a time to keep the school there.

. Fishng1 has it covered. All I would add is the more bait you throw the better the tuna will stick around.

There are several ways to hook an anchovy. Google anchovy hooking if interested. If you get an anchovy that wants to swim under the boat rip it off immediately and get another. If you try recasting a reluctant anchovy it will just swim under the boat again. You want one that swims strongly and away from the boat. Then hang on!!!

Could Todd reel one in under 60 seconds on live bait as well as plastics?
