Anyone thinking about hitting it when it opens on the 1st? Me and my friend might be hitting it for a couple hours just for kicks and giggles.

No, I wouldn't fish it if I were you! Won't be any fish in it at all. Ha-ha!
This small river used to be a diamond in the rough. Still kicks out fish. used to fish it with the late Bill Davis. 3rd week of dec. was traditionally good fishing. Riviera blvd drift was always a good producer.

This is like the Money shot on the whole Puget Sound fishery. Three years ago I didn't even know that river exists, thanks to the internet and great posts like this, I wont be fishing it because fishing it is like being at a bukkake party after the chick left. Your just another guys jerking it in a crowd of guys.

Thats what i thought too but last winter i heard a couple fellows speaking of 8 or 9 fish days on the river last year and its pretty close to home so i figured i could go kill a few hours after school every week and see if i can find anything still in it

God, I had fun on that river many years ago. Late 80's into early 90's.

Caught my first steelhead on the Pilchuck some decades back. Just a glimmer of what it use to be, like most rivers in this area.

Yes LB, this will be the last year of hatchery fish returning to the 'Chuck....thankfully. Plant two years ago was 31,000 so I'd say the adult return will be about 100 fish, give or take.

The best fishing has historically been the last two weeks of Feb.....and it closes on Feb. 15th this year. The writing is on the wall....I wouldn't be surprised if this is the last year of fishing on 'Chuck.

Many of us have some fond memories of the "Chuck" in the good old days.

Not surprised that you and Bill might find some good fishing in late November; most folks did not start fishing it until the first of December.

When was it ever open In November? Not in the 80's. I know is used to be open in March too many years ago.

pretty sad.....

As someone who grew up in Snohomish and fishes it regularly, your comment hits close to home. As strange as BigJims post is, I kinda understand what he's talking about....in terms of fish per hour, the 'Chuck flat out sucks nowadays.

But I don't really understand your comment. Would you mind explaining how one goes about "whoring" out a home river?

I think he's referring to the people who bonk nates when not legal to do so and doing it after the closure...lots of places to hide on the Chuck and catch and kill nates without having even the slightest chance of getting caught...
