Did anybody brave the wind, rain, and cold this weekend to get a line wet? Me, I went to the Boat Show.

Fished up at Pass Lake. Weather was relatively mild - a little wind, no rain / snow. Fishign was slow, I picked up one and saw two other caught. There were about 10 fisherman during my time there. Some fished chronies, didn't see them catch anything.

Darth Plug Puller,
I was too smart to go fishing in the wet and the rain this weekend.
Went smelting on Saturday and was surprised with the nice weather down there.
Even smarter on Sunday when I went into the hills above Maple Valley to stand outside and shoot 3 rounds of skeet. It was colder, rainier and windier than down low.

Went to Battle Ground Lake. I got a nice brookie andtwo bows. I got the brookie first on a slip sinker rig with a worm. But after sitting for about an hour with only on fish, i decided to try a fly. My grandpa gave me a few old flys that I have always carried around with me, but never used. So I tied on the fly with a little bobber and a split shot to get the fly out far enough (I was on the dock). I got the two bows that way. One guy got a big ol' steelhead. Something that made me mad was there were these four Russians out there that each had two poles and multiple hooks on each line. Not only were they catching lots of fish, but they kept all of them, too. They probably kept ten or fifteen fish over their limit, and they were still there when I left. I would have told the park ranger, but he wasn't there.

Next time call the police and they will stop them but don't use 911. Jim S.

I believe you call the Washington state patrol for POACHERS>SCUM. They will act like they didnt know what the rules are. I dont speak english etc. And will most likey not so up in court. ARGGGGGGGGH I ran into one at Ballinger 2 years ago. He was using multiple hooks on his lines. I kept yelling at hin to remove the hooks . He tried to cast at me (I was in my pontoon) with his 6 oz lead. He hit my foot rest and the line wrapped around it . I started rowing and he couldnt break the line and his rod went into the water. I pulled it out about 20 feet so he couldnt get it.

TM Thanks for the info on that lake. But I have a problem. I'm getting to that point in life as I don't like fishing alone any more. When your by your self. You don't have anybody to talk to. I talk to myself but after a while you end up arguing with your other self and then people think that your nuts. Jim S.

You can have up to 3 hooks per line unless otherwise noted under "special rules" section.

These people had more like five hooks. How many flys can you have on a fly line?

Same for fly lines. Again, unless noted under a 'special rule', like 'selective rules', etc. Check the regs if you're not sure.

Waters as fly fishing only is a single barbless hook. And selective gear rules it is the same. I just read the regs and the only place where you can use three hooks is in Salt water when you use then for jigging for smelt or whatever. Jim S

Hey jim - check again buddy (: Under the Statewide General Freshwater Rules - undter "Tackle", first paragraph - last line "...one line with up to 3 hooks per angler". So for your average put-and-take fishery - 3 hooks are legal. Hmmm, power bait, worm, eggs - you'd have the bases covered (:
Each year I find regs that I either interpreted wrong, or just didn't notice. Maybe they should start offering classes?
Good luck out there! -Chad
