Been married for almost 7 years to a great girl. She discovered a passion for running so she understands my passion for fishing. So much so that when I sheepishly showed her a photo of the boat I wanted to buy all I got was a high-five. Now I get made fun of if I dont go fish often and the only time she beotches at me is when I give away too much crab or too many fish. Her Dad and I are close buddies now too, so everyone has won thus far. And thanks to the running she is in damn good shape too.....

You can only use one at a time.. My reply is do you really need all the shoes ? Love my wife and kids All have the same love and respect of the outdoors that I do. okbye Jay Pea

First marriage lasted 15yrs. and although there was a LOT of hell in there I would do it all over again for my 3 amazing kiddos. 16 months until full financial parole, 4 months to a major pay raise smile!

One morning while I was en route to the river. I happened to be surfing the AM radio, I tuned into this Marriage counselor who said the #1 question he's asked is "How do you know if you've found your soul mate"? He said there's no such thing...if you ALWAY"S make the rite decisions, you'll have bliss in your marriage.

It's been two years now since I heard this. And it's been working very well so far.

Thanks to my Beautiful wife, for her Love & Patience.... 22yrs this May.

Mf

DW sorry for your loss. Touching story, thanks for sharing.

Spent almost 27 years with my first wife. Came home from work a couple years back to an empty closet and a Dear John note. She hated anything to do with fish or fishing so my addiction didn't help.

In hindsight it was probably the best thing even though it was hell going through it.

A year later I met the "right one". She LOVES fishing. Loves being on the boat. Handles her own rod and nets a fish like a pro. Just today she was wishing the rivers were in shape so we could spend the day on the water.

Like was mentioned above...just gotta find the right one. thumbs

Yeah, member of the club, about 18 years ago. Fishing was not an issue. 15 years in to the second one, couldn't be happier. She knows I fish, love to fish, and she don't care. The more I fish, the more she shops so we even it out!

We lived together for five years and were married for fifteen. As mentioned before I would do it all over again for the promise of three such amazing kids! She and I were best friends but I made it very clear, before we married, that I would leave her for fishing and hunting if she ever gave me the ultimateum.

What I didnt expect is that she would "find religion." I lost her to a social network that supported her completely and by the end she actually felt sorry for me that I was ONLY a lost soul or cannon fodder for armageddon. Ya...

She was a great gal when we met and for most of our marriage. I tried to end it amiably and wanted to be friends again. She claimed that I was an unfit parent because I was "emotionally dependent on my kids." Try to figure that one out. The judge gave her 90% of the community assets because I had seperate property. Consequently, I lost everything- kids, dog, house, retirement, friends, future, etc.

That was two years ago... I get a HUGE pay raise in two more years. The gal I am seeing now is ten times more mature, WAY more attractive but challenges me everyday! ADVICE- avoid the redheads because my hair is going gray! Obviously I am a sucker for strong women. Life is good!

If the only time you spend with your wife is at night, in bed.... you married for the wrong reason.

Good on you and your husband, Marsha.

There are so many experienced, heart felt posts I don't know where to start.
Given the overall maturity most of us start with in marriage it is almost a miracle that any of us wind up with marriages intact, I include myself in the lucky group. My Grandma would agree that "I just flat got lucky."

I do notice a couple of trends. People who stay married tend to just accept and not try to change each other; and they try to be good partners for the other, and so are willing to change. I didn't make this up and can provide scientific references if anyone wants them.

Married 1963, even stayed at Fishermen Bridge in Yellowstone, and fished the next day. Learned early in my marriage "not to be gone to long" and did that most of our marriage. Its why I live where I do, most of my fishing was done in 3 or 4 hours....gave me lot's of family time.

I will miss Barb very much......Rest in peace!!!!!! Thanks for being a great mother, wife, homemaker, and my best friend. Died from cancer, 1/09/2011.

She found religion not God. For if she'd had found God (by what you have stated) her "social network" would've shown her the the Apostle Paul's council in 1 Corinthians regarding mates of unbeliever's.

There's something to be said about a God fearing women. smile

Yep...add me to it...was married 11yrs, we were together 17. She was a very good fishing and hunting partner for about 15yrs. I kept becoming more and more addicted to killing birds/big game and chasing fish all over the NW.

She could shoot trap, call ducks, had her own lab, plus she could back up a pickup-camper with the 20' boat at Chinook on Labor Day weekend better than most boat owners. Eventually, she told me she didn't care about me and moved on. Hurt like Hell....that was 5 yrs ago. Got re-married 1.5 years ago. I've changed some, and the new one seems jsut as cool. So..we'll see...

I was married 9 years. Fishing was an issue but not the reason. Been divorced for 7 months and went hunting and shrimping for the first time this past year. Before it was, "since you fish, you are not "allowed" to hunt."

Met her @ age 27 told her I fish every weekend and I will not change, but could slow down a bit with kids.It was her second and my first marriage. After 15 years together and being married for 10 of those(I made her wait) my youngest daughter is 14 ya get the picture we are going strong as ever and she rarely bitches about my fishin, actually she used to go with me all the time until she was dianosed with MS after that she kinda gave up fishin and does her own things like scrape book / creative memory chit with the gals.Seems to me they try harder the second time around.Good luck,

Well three timer and one out on fishing, well my addiction to water. Then my second for 23 years. She went from Northern Australia to upper reaches of the Amazon to Fiji to the jungles of Nicaragua with me. Never bitched, well the tree limbs hung in the landing gear coming off that clay strip sorta, tough as nails miss her every time I fish someplace. Woman was fearless!

Not on the list. Been married 35 years this June.

Marriage is like fishing --some days are better than others but as a whole it has been a most enjoyable journey.
