Flossing to me is like cheating at solitaire. There is not much satisfaction in that.
I'm 60 years old and I was taught, when I was bottom bouncing that leader length does make a difference. Clear water 36 inches long, colored water 24 inches long.
I've caught plenty of fish using these methods.
The first time I saw the 12 to 14 foot leaders was on the Cowlitz. These guys were just whacking the heck out of them. I meandered over
and saw a guy beach a fish and noticed that the hook was on the outside of the mouth. After awhile all the fish had hooks on the outside of the mouth. Hmmm?
I mentioned this to another old timer and he said. "You know what the difference is between lining and flossing?" No, What? A $40,000 Jet sled!
Maybe fish and game should clarify the regs by stating Any hooks outside of mouth Fish to be released.
Just my .02

I didn't mean to step on any boaters toes! I have a river boat! Just thought It was a funny response from the Guy.
I have wondered though, when you see a Drift/Jet boat side drifting with 4-6 lines out through a hole, If some flossing isn't happening.
Again, no disrespect to the boaters out there. Just an observation..

I'll take the low road. Come to the first annual Floss/Snagapaloosa. There will be free lessons on the Puyallup this August. You can snag/floss humpies until your arms just can't floss anymore. There will also be a litterfest to go along with the show. Just think, you can go toe to toe with an army of meth huffing, litter dropping, slab bonking blockheads and guess what, that’s the good part of the fest. Flossing is snagging no matter how many ways you try and twist it.

Look up the definition of Naive or Ignorant in the dictionary... All goes hand in hand with your response.....

i invite anyone on this board to live in kali for 10 years with no access to out of state fishing, the money to hire a guide, or the time to drive across our large state to accesss the nuclear wasteland of habitat and management that we enjoy on an ongoing basis. try that, then see where your ethics are in your hour of darkness. honestly, would you weaken? stir

ps in no way was the following an endorsement of flossing, snaggin, fishin, or any other opinion that has been posted. as danny the tourettes guy would say, "YOU SHOULD WALK A MILE IN MYYYY SH!T"
