I decided to head over the hill and take a break from chasing steelhead. The weather was great with very little wind. It was nice to feel the sun for a change.
I started fishing around 9:00 and went straight to the bobber rod. Water temp was nearly 48 and chironomids were already hatching.
I ended up bringing a dozen and a half fish to hand. I had numerous LDR's, a few snap offs and multiple IBW's (inattentive bobber watching).
The bobber was bobbing throughout of the day.
Got fish on black, chromies and olive and brown red butt chironomid patterns fishing in 8-12 feet of water. Used size 12 to 16's.
Throat pumped a few fish, which were stuffed with various sizes and colors of chironomids.
The fish were in nice shape. There seemed to be two different size groups, 14-16" footballs and 18" + fish. Big fish of the day for me was 21". Heard some folks talking of 23-24" fish. Most the fish fought well, except a few that were in spawning mode. All bows today, no browns or tigers. Saw people catching a few trolling around or big uglies or casting them towards shore.
I quit shortly after 4:00. The last hour was interesting fishing through a bloom or turnover the lake was going through. The fish were still biting even though the lake surface looked like a treatment plant.
A really nice day on the water. That flyPLUNKING is pretty fun stuff....

Sorry, not the greatest pics.
