Interesting, to say the least.

I've caught a lot of summer runs with gorged stomaches but that one, hands down, takes the cake.

Oh, and my largest hatchery summer-run ever......caught on a sand shrimp head.

Just goes to show you that biters are biters.

And non-biters... well.... aren't.

I've had a few suicidal fish over the years that stripped the baits off two adjacent rods along one side of the spread, only to get stung by an artificial on the captain's clean up rod.

On my old, fried computer, I had a picture of a winter that ate all three lines we had out. I pried his mouth open to show all three baits stuck in the back of his gullet side by side..... wish I still had that pic

Depending on how fried the computer is you may still have that pic.

Todd would have freaked out if he saw any native fry in his stomach.

I've seen eggs, yarn, periwinkles and crayfish in the summers I've caught.

I've hooked plenty on the sand shrimp head so I save those. Cooked prawn has been effective for me. If those fish are on the bite they will travel 50 ft to pick up your bait. If they are off you can drift it and hit your bait on their nose and they wont bite.

Can't wait to hit the river with plenty of bait.

Here's a summerbun that picked up all three of our baits.

We call those "over achievers".

Now I know what to do if I feel like I need some bait.

That fish was suicidal.....

Funny part was the first 2 baits he picked up and those dudes were asleep at the wheel giving the fish enough time to scarf the 3rd bait.. Nothing like seeing 3 hooksets within a second thinking it was another triple only to see all the lines come together....

While m onitoring traps I have passed, going downstream, kelt female winterruns that were plugged with carpenter ants.

I've caught the same hatchery fish 3 times in just over an hour. It kept swimming out to the same rock so I'd let it sit there for a bit and then give it a go.
