Anyone care to share their opinions about what are some of the better flys for op summer runs.

globugs, the trick is you put a slinkie 2 ft. up the line and drift it out of the side of the boat though. I think thats a pretty quick way to hook some fish, or get a tv show.

Freight Train
+ 4600 CFS w/3'-4' vis
Hooked up on the Big D

Maybe similar would work on the OP ?
After Dinner Mint would be another good pattern. (larger profile)
Some swear by Freight Train on a bright hook.

A self appointed Name like Big Jim speaks volumes about your character.

Couldn't tell ya'. Just spent a couple days drifting and swinging a variety of the usual and never got bit, 'cepin' by a cutthroat.

It's part of the Extenze program.
There's a psych component as well as the pills.

At least that's what I've heard blush

heartwood:

Start with the same stuff you use for winter fish. Especially early in the season, big stuff will get the most attention. If you actually see steelhead spooking to your offering, scale down the colors and sizes gradually.

Skunks, Spades, ESL's, marabous, etc. Typical summer flies and all should work. I don't think there's any real secrets to it other than to find some fish and use something you have confidence in.

I like the Spades because you can tie them in a variety of colors/sizes to cover most summer conditions. I also think we care a whole lot more about patterns than the fish do.

Of course not! I don't care what others say unless its positive input. I love gear and bug rod techniques and practice both because it's ALL FUN!

Why are people hatin' on fly-flingin' on the fly forum...wth. Don't overthink it...traditional steelhead flies...marabou blacks, purple, blue...or freight trains, skunks...and my personal fave...black wooley buggers!
