Let me start this, I grew up floating rivers in montana but I'm new to rivers on the west side of washington. This whole thing of jet boating up the river and then floating back down, how cool is that? My first question is how deep is that stretch of river (cascade to rock port)? Could I use a small aluminum with a short shaft and prop or should I use a drift boat and two cars. Do I have to worry about log jams, or is that stretch of river clear? If i were to get a jet boat how do you keep your self the right distance from the bank to fish without bing under power? Do you use oars? At this point any advice would be helpful or at least the name of a sports shop and person I could go ask all these questions.

Agradecimiento

This time of year it is big fast water my friend, a sled would be better, but I use to do it in a driftboat and fish the edges, be careful, way more powerful then it looks.

Peace

Not sure what Jeremy is saying--but you do not want to take a prop in that stretch. I just got back from there this weekend with my jetsled and as Superfly eludes too--there is ALOT of flow right now. You could prop the lower section in mid Aug when the Humpyfest is in full swing.

"There are prepared enough abnormal copies of exhibition of boat on the envelope the town of Skagit River. Then if it attempts to float the Skagit, makes please not putt the plug on his ship. Please by a long engine on the tunnel and attempted to climb the waterfall. Thanks"

This is what Bing translated Jeremy's post into.... rofl

If a prop is out of the question, I will float it with a raft. Anything bad to watch out for? When you say the lower portion, what do you mean? What kind of sled do you have HP and lenth ect? How does that work exactly? Remember, I'm used to rafting slow rivers (a few small rapids) and fishing on the way down. Are there rapids on that stretch of river? Any info would be great!

Jhoskinson,

With the flow as high as it presently is, it's possible - but not advisable - to run a prop driven boat from Rockport to Marblemount. I've done it at much lower flows, but I also replace two shear pins in one day one time, so even with experience you have to be aware that the channel changes after high water events. Jet drive is much preferred.

You have to worry about log jams if you don't understand what's required to avoid getting sucked into them. Otherwise there's plenty of room to maneuver around and avoid them.

Boatmen hold their position for fishing either with oars or an electric or small gas kicker motor.

Hey Thanks... That is pretty helpful. What about white water or big rocks anything that is difficult to get around?
