I've gotten my share of fisherman beware reports of theft/break ins, whatever you want to call them on the sky.... Drew posted one report earlier, this is not the same incident. From the words of the locals that live in big bend that also talked to enforcement as well. There was over a half dozen over the weekend in the hatchery parking lot @ Reiter just alone... Also proctor, and the all common mouth of the Wallace.

So FYI, do yourselves favor and if you choose to fish beware these scum bags are out in full force already, don't let you vehicle be a target, LEAVE YOUR VALUEABLES AT HOME!!!

Keep your eyes out for shady people! Drive around your parking area if there's multiple vehicles.... And if anyone/vehicle looks suspicious write down their plates!

Despite getting a window broken over a week ago, I ended up back at the highway side of Reiter last Sunday. This time I parked immediately next to the shoulder with a totally empty car, and even left the doors unlocked. As I was walking down to the tracks I noticed a gray Hyundai SUV pull up in front of my car and stop. Two guys were in it: passenger was a short haired white guy with tattooed arms and the driver was a tall skinny white guy, longer hair and beard/goatee. The driver got out for a second but got back in when he saw me walking back. They stayed for a few more seconds and then took off. I didn't get the plate number.

Still don't know if they were fishermen, but it did seem suspicious. Just an FYI and/or hunting tip.

Add 3 more windows to the tally this morning. Mouth of the Wallace. Fortunate to not have anything of value in the truck when they went through it. Fishing sucked to boot.

Get enough guys together and pay someone to sit out there with their shotgun, seems there should be someone that needs the cash.

what needs to be done is a tweaker sting. somebody who has a pickup with say a back window with a stupidly big lamiglass or loomis sticker. park the truck in a area that has been popular with the tweaks. then have several PP board members in the bushes in thier hunting camo gear and camo makeup. wait till tweaks roll in, have a PP member pull in and block the entrence. since the cops are never around, beat the sombitches real good. then gag thier mouths and tie them to a distant tree. cover them in cat food, so a bear will find them. oh yea bust out thier windows!

These reports make me sick! I was a summer bank maggot on the Sky in the mid 80's through the early 2000's. Full weekends, after work from my summer job at Everett in my college years.....countles times I've left Wenatchee at 5:00pm and been fishing on the Sky by 6:30pm and fish until midnight, then drive home and go to work. I was never concerned for my myself or my rig. North Fork, South Fork, Hatchery Stretch, driving in from the Horse Rental Place (before the road washed out). I think I'd pack heat now if I was walkin the old railroad grade at night. Sad!

With so many unemployed, hiring a watchman might be feasible. Pay a "watch" fee at each public access to the armed guard. Maybe this could be an opportunity for an ambitious and bloodthirsty entrepreneur. The guy could station himself at access points and tell anglers he'll watch their vehicle for $5 or whatever. I remember doing this in Peru, only the price was lower.

These tweekers are semi smart. They never seem to hit the same place two days in a row. In the last week they have hit both sides of Reiter, Proctor, and the Mouth of the Wallace that leaves the Sultan Boat launch and Cracker Bar. I was at parked at the Sultan boat launch from 5am till about noon and no one got hit there. If I was going to set up a sting in the next couple days it would be either at Sultan or Cracker Bar, with Cracker Bar the #1 choice. There was about a dozen guys fishing it this morning and the parking lot is way less visible then the Boat Launch.

Either that or back up at Reiter, they will likely just continue to cycle through the spots.
