I haven't had many chances to fish trout yet this summer for a number of reasons. Work has kept me more than busy and on my few off days, I have been focusing more on freezer filling/king season rather than spending time tormenting the trout in my local cricks. I finally put the salmon gear down (for part of the afternoon) and picked up the fur flinging stick. It was refreshing to say the least.

Today was probably the nicest weather day of summer so far, full of sunshine and hardly a breath of wind. We managed to find a few small and medium sized trout, no magnums. A few of the rainbows managed to catch some decent light and I thought I would share.

That's no leech pattern, that is the Dolly Lama! Tried and true Alaskan favorite.

They like black and white

And white on white as well,

but olive and white is my favorite.

Beautiful shots, thanks for sharing. Great leeches as well, do the trout like them stripped in at the end of a swing?

Rarely. I usually strip once or twice at the end of a swing out of habit, but rarely have anything to show for it. The vast majority of fish on these flies come on the hang down or very close to it.

Those are excellent shots, what kind of camera you use? Those should seriously be in STS or something.
