What is a good Rod to use for plunking? I have 8 and 10 year old boys that get tired of casting from shore all the time....

why fish with a piece of junk. A medium heavy 8'6" salmon/steelhead rod works fine. It'll chuck a 6 oz led easy.

You should get the best gear you can afford no matter what type of fishing you are doing. The rod you get depends on how much lead you will be chucking. However you would be a fool to buy an imx or even an xmg 50 lami for the sole purpose of plunking. I use a rock creek lami for the rare occasions when I have to plunk. Its a 12-25 lb rod thats 8 1/2 ft long. I have used up to 10 oz. with it, but thats too much. It handles 6 oz. much better. In my opinion if your chucking 8 plus, you should be using a 15-30 lb. rod and up, 4 oz or less 10-20, 4-6 oz. 12-25. Again this is my opinion, and not the rule.

Berkley and Okuma both have super great poles for plunking.

i have one of these, Okuma SST-C 1062 lure wt. 3/6oz 10.5' this rod can toss 8oz if needed. berkly also make a pole that is identical.

the very best part on these 2 poles is the price. 79.99 you can not go wrong trust me.
