Yet another PayPal phishing adventure.
Never use any links provided in an email that is not clearly from a friend.
There are some tiny language clues but when I saw the sender's address as I was forwarding to PayPal security, PayPal was spelled with the tell-tale "PayPall".

This one was pretty good.
I'll bet some unsuspecting folk clicked in and gave away their passwords.
Here it is:

Subject: Notification of Limited Account Access RXI-992

Hello Stupid American, I did that smile

As part of our security measures, we regularly screen activity in the PayPal
system. We recently contacted you after noticing an issue on your account.
Notice the odd past tense above and below. I think it's supposed to create urgency in that you missed their first attempt to contact you.

We requested information from you for the following reason:

A recent review of your account determined that we require some additional
information from you in order to provide you with secure service.

Case ID Number: PP-183-766-766

This is a second reminder to log in to PayPal as soon as possible. Once you log
in, you will be provided with steps to restore your account access.

Be sure to log in securely by using the following link:
Click here to login and restore your account access

The links are not hot here, but they direct you to a legit-looking page that separates you from your secrets and your money.

Once you log in, you will be provided with steps to restore your
account access. We appreciate your understanding as we work to ensure account
safety.

In accordance with PayPal's User Agreement, your account access will remain
limited until the issue has been resolved. Unfortunately, if access to your
account remains limited for an extended period of time, it may result in further
limitations or eventual account closure. We encourage you to log in to your
PayPal account as soon as possible to help avoid this.

To review your account and some or all of the information that PayPal used to
make its decision to limit your account access, please visit the Resolution
Center. If, after reviewing your account information, you seek further
clarification regarding your account access, please contact PayPal by visiting
the Help Center and clicking "Contact Us".

We thank you for your prompt attention to this matter. Please understand that
this is a security measure intended to help protect you and your account. We
apologize for any inconvenience.

Thanks,

PayPal Account Review Department

I get that crap all the time...someone must be dumb enough to log onto those fake sites, or there wouldn't be so many phishing attempts out there...who would do such a thing?

Fish on...

The best scam that almost got me involves a the website hosting service I have that is on a monthly autopay. Out of the blue I get an authentic looking notice from accounting telling me that the credit card on file has expired and needs to be renewed, along with a link to their website. Almost got me since I have done all my business with them via email. Thought about it, went to the website directly and wow, everything is ok.

A new one has been trying to get my parents, who are on medicare. Somehow they know they are on medicare and are guessing or know some of their medication. They get a call from a company telling them that they can sell the medication at a reduced rate and ask for their personal information so they can set up an account. For all I know they may even be a legit company, but their attempts to get their information over the phone unsolicitated are quite concerning.
