Last Saturday I lost my Luhr Jensen hook file during a little melee. Apparently it was ripped from its moorings when I grabbed for the pliers.
I like the 4-1/4" (with no handle) tethered with 3/16" surgical tubing to my chest pack.

I went to every merchant in my area to find one and they are non-existent. They used to be an always available staple, larger ones with yellow handles and the plain smaller ones.

Danielson crap is all they had for a hook file.
Wonder why such a good and reliable product has disappeared ?

After a lengthy search I found a source on line and bought a few.

Who also melted his favorite fleece jacket on the stove last weekend. It was a worth it, though....great weekend otherwise.

i like the edge that steel files put to a hook, but can't stand how they rust up after the first time they get wet. i switched over to an eze-lap several years ago and couldn't be happier.

you'll find that the majority of stuff that luhr jensen made is long gone now, since they moved to china. can't even get real gooey bobs any more!

This particular one didn't really crust up with rust. I oiled it from time to time and it had a kind of patina I suppose.
I like the file for larger hooks. Agree, the E-Z Lap is great, especially for smaller hooks.

have you checked Bi-mart. I believe they still carry them....

Yup, checked Bimart on 4th Plain yesterday. Also checked Fisherman's, Dick's and Wholesale Sports.
I think that they are discontinued products....too bad.

I believe this was a corporate decision. They decided to no longer make a quality product.

a file doesn't work for RVRFSHR... as in RVRFL, see it does not work.

i recently talked with the representative of RVRFSTR. he says that very soon the best hook file EVER will be put carried. the name will be simple.
