Oooookay, going to be in Lincoln City for Thanksgiving. Should I bring my rod and reel? I've never fished down there. Help! My daughter lives right down the street from the bay. Also I'll be without a boat.

You would leave home without it?
There should be some early steel or late coho in the Siletz.

Have a Oregon fishing license????? Out of State costs, a lot more than Washington State charges non-resident..... Save the license fees, kick back and enjoy the time with family...........oh if bored, check out the casino......drop a few bucks in the penny machine....

could buy a one day license, I think 12 bucks or something... pacific city is a 1/2 hour away and is having a decent return this year. can chuck spinners in the tidewater, have had good success with that over the years. send me a PM and I can give you some spots to hit up.

FYI, just stay away from the salmon river just outside of LC, it is a white trash snag festival. I'm sure you washington boys know nothing about that smile

For me it would depend on when the "fall rains" hit. There are Fall Chinook staging in the bays waiting for those rains. If the rain holds off eggs/shrimp in tidewater under a float would be the ticket if you're bank-bound.
As soon as you can float a DB (without dragging) on the major rivers the Chinook will be available in those rivers and the bays will be emptying of Chinook. Normal fast water tactics up in the rivers would be the way to go. Bring your waders.

Rivers in your area are Siletz, Salmon (bank fishery) and Nestucca further north.
Your visit timing is excellent for those coastal fall fish. We've had some big days in that time frame.
Good luck.

Yes you should bring a rod and reel. The best thing to do when staying in Lincoln Shitty, is get the hell out of lickin' clitty. Dirtbag town.....

I appreciate all the great advice. Wife has me kinda worried. Not only is she ok with my sneaking out to fish, she said I could take my son-in-law and grandson AND said she'd roast a turkey when we got home (gotta have turkey sandwiches for a week after Thanksgiving!). Gotta love my wife!

This will make it much easier for her and your daughter to go on a Charging Spree in the outlet stores....

Thanks. I think. Grandson just called. He's got some crabpots lined up for us already. Gotta love a yapper (what I call all the grandkids cause it's always "Pappa this...and pappa that...) who plans ahead.

Unfortunately we've got the white trash snaggers up here too. They even do it on rivers known to have the game wardens hiding in the bushes video taping it all! My theory is that the world is full of idiots! smile

A whole river devoted to professional white trash snagging; what a shame.
