O Joe... I have been following it to...It was was my go place and really loved it this time of year...

Bill, Bathtub Bob, Ronnie, Jerry, Terry J., and the rest of my old freinds, You will be everlasting in my memories...you'll be a missing me again this year on Halloween morning sneeking up on you in fog on such a glorious day. I have sold both of the Willies and now no one wants to take me out to throw nasty old bags of candy and funky old homemade spinners and sinkers into the boats of all of the many friends I have made over there during the last 30 plus years.....Cheers...Marv.

Black Bart,

So many memories starting with how you got that name, the day it rained on that black hat you were wearing and the dye rain down your face.

All of us in the hog line above you got a kick out of how you tried to not let us know when you had a fish on. That spot is still referred to as "Black Bart's hole".

Then the day my wife and I were fishing a spot by the steps where you had just limited. Our spoons would not "tune" and you came by and threw one of your spinners in our boat. I put it on my wife's line. She let me land the last two of our limit. All on your spinner.

A day no one will forget and is talked about to this day. You stopped by the hog line on the way to your hole. When you left you cut too soon below us and sucked up a lure in your pump as you left spooling his reel. What happened later can't be told here as this is a family site.

I will be going down there on Halloween. Get in touch if you can make it. You are more than welcome to join me.

Too funny! Well maybe not for the dude that got "spooled".

I think I shared a fire with BB at Fuller last year to talk fish after trailering my boat up the ramp.

Hi Ronnie...Thanx for the very generous offer but I aint got no fishing license, not that it ever stopped me before.....c'mon, just kidding. I'm not so sure I could sit on the hook for so many hours. This recovery from the total left hip replacemnt has me needing to get up and move around an awful lot, and as such, I probably would not be such great company and would wimp out before the fish boxes were jammed full.

I still remember that very rainy and windy day so many years ago. I was so proud of my brand new Black Stetson cowboy hat and I could not for the life of me figure out why Johnny Johnson, who coined the now famous Chehalis River nick name, BTB, Jerry, Yourself, Doug C. and so many others fishing that day were pointing at me and laughing there collective rear ends off. Wasn't untill I got back to my rig did I see what so darn funny. Geeze, if you think my face was all black from the brand new hat die, you should have seen the T shirt I had on...Totally Toast!

In all honesty, I really did feel bad about catching Herman's outfit and as you remember, I offered to make it right with the world, but he would not have any of that nonsense now would he? Just so much easier for him to rant and rave for week upon week after such an unfortunate accident. Oh well, what can I say, stuff happens!

Bill, those were not just any old "rocks" in the goodie bags. They were actually antique Native American Cerimonial fishing sinkers!

Doc, as much as I would like to have made your aquaintence and talk fishing, It was not me at the boat ramp that day. My loss

Let's hope that a few days in a row without gill netting will provide some terrific fishing for you guys....

Well today was a bust. Two Chum and I practiced C&R 20 ft from the boat twice on Coho. Ah I am not sure what part of stupid I do not get but I think I am, hell thinking is dangerous for me. foul

Most fish caught were parked and we hunted them down but on the incoming a small wave with the seals came in but it was small and have no way to be certain what they were but mostly Chum I think.

Just figured you were a Chehalis old-timer, and saw that someone else posted the name Marv.

That's the name of the old guy I was BS'ing with along with his other crusty friend camping on the upriver end of the Fuller parking lot. Had a pretty good conversation about the good old days, conservation, and the CCA.

Had to chase a log today so took the time to look at the incoming tide. Some fish seemed to be moving but then nets went in so it most likely will be a small number. Best I can do for you guys as I am off the river for a couple of days.

Last day as I am not big on chasing a few hatchery fish. Anyway limited out but it is hunting time as you have the night holdovers. On the incoming Chum and Coho are coming at the front of the tide in a wave that is about 45 minutes then dead. Better to fish up or if you know a place get them at the very front of the tide.

Almost forgot. Two hens both fully developed skeins / loose at the back end but both were bright. Time is moving them now not water, so if you get in front of them you should do OK in the small water.

Confirmed by today's experience. Fished Friends Landing and was surprised to see we were only the second boat in the water at 10:30 AM. Fished the last bit of outgoing and the low slack with nothing. As soon as the tide turned, we hit a beautiful chum and a nice coho hen, and that was it for the next 4 hours. Should have dropped anchor where we got those two, but we figured it could only get better as the tide continued to rise, so we kept moving. Boy, were we wrong. Nice day on the river today, even if it was windy and chilly. Hard to complain when the Chehalis is fishable in late October....

Nice 8# sea liced coho buck on the first cast down low in my "usual and accustomed" hole. Saw one other one lost, one or two other bites and some guy dragging a chum around by the tail laugh

It looks like the river droped a foot or so below flood stage. I'll be chomping at the bit come Thursday.

Local rivers WERE on a good drop here in GH.

Another round of rain's got'em on the rise again.
