I know your out there, those that use Powerbait. Would be nice to be the guy that invented the stuff, probably doesn't even fish laugh What is your favorite color or type?

After lots of field testing, I like the rainbow color best. Pink also has it's moments. A fishing buddy years ago got me into trolling the stuff. Was absolutely amazing over at the Potholes Reservoir, the trout went crazy.

Saw this year Berkely came out with a spin mechanism for trolling the stuff now. It don't take long for them to figure out every angle.

After a number of years of use, I've noticed, early season, the paste type PowerBait works best in any of the shades of green or rainbow. The Glitter/ Turbo formulas seem to work better than the plain. However, as the trout develop into "bait thieves"; I've discovered the PowerEggs are a more productive choice.

Well the last couple of years Ive juss stuck to using power eggs for cuz it being less messy then messin with the dough. But I keep a couple jars of rainbow dough and jars of flo. yellow and orange eggs are my personally fav color to use, i also got bubble gum and the sparkly red one which I pull out sometimes.

The paste variety I like because you get more for the buck. The stuff is messy and stinks but trout do like it. Has anyone ever caught anything other than trout on Powerbait?

I've used the powerbait maggots for perch but that's about it fishy

i don't even use the stuff any more...lots more fun catching them on hardware now!

when i was into the power bait thing, there were quite a few favorite colors of mine. captain america and rainbow were some of the best, then hot pink and chartreuse worked well too.

also, i used to use that cheap uncle josh knockoff in corn scent...worked great and it was around $1.50 a can

Orange Powerbait is my favorite to use. I recently discovered Mike's Mallows. They work great and stay on your hook longer than Powerbait does.

I find that the Chartreuse with glitter gets me the most action, but is closely followed by rainbow.

No Catfish on powerbait, but I was able to catch and release a 70lb Black Lab, who wished she was a trout. eek

yes i have been known to throw out the power bait especially around the opener and again in the fall. i dont fish lakes much through the summer and have much better success with fly in the river(pautzkes might work to wink ) but as far as colors go, most work well and some i have found dont work well for me. it can also be lake dependent. one lake the chart. kills and another lake just a stones throw away make have red as the go to color. when i fish pb i tend not to stay locked into a certain color. if i find a color that works i will always come back to it, but i never put more than two casts in a row with the same color. colors that havent worked for me(shorter this way) capt. america, any white or blue(solid), red very infrequently works, and i am not a fan of glitter, just havent seen any greater results from it. as for the eggs , they have there place to. as someone mentioned before when the fis are in the stealing mode they work great. the fish can not get those eggs off the hook. dont forget that there are other possobilities other than just eggs also!! sorry for rambling on, but i could continue if you really wanted me to laugh . anyway any questions feel free to ask. steve.

Caught a 10 lb blue cat at Schaefer Lake near Ellensburg Canyon back in '94 when Powerbait first came out. I was fishin Chartreuse nuggets about 2' off the bottom. It was quite a battle on a 6' rod. Put her back figuring she was Queen of that lil pond of a lake.
