I need to get my son out with my Dad. My dad loves perch and so does my son and they really need to spend some time together in a boat. I have been putting this off for to long and now It seems our normal spots are just not producing. I live north of Seattle and Dad lives in Spokane so anywhere in the state with some decent sized perch would be great.
Thanks help help zip

Hmmm... I recently posted a new article from Dave Graybill, AKA, Fishin Magician on the Seep lakes area and Moses lake. Sad to say nis report was not glowing. He is expecting it to pick up. That area would be right about halfway for you and your dad. Good luck!

I haven't fished these spots for eight years, so I can't vouch for them now...but-- Sprague Lake west of Spokane used to have some really large perch, heavy fish over a foot long. The only problem was the big bluegills/crappie/bass/trout that would hit instead.

Long Lake west of Spokane was an excellent perch lake. I launched at the DNR launch on the north side down by the dam and fished the weedbeds. The perch back then weren't so large as those in Sprague, but they were still a decent fillet-able size and when you found the schools, they would hit on every cast (no exaggeration).

Of course, the Potholes in the fall used to be good, but I don't know if it's turned around after the decline in panfish populations.

I'm still looking for a decent perch lake on the westside that doesn't involve driving in Seattle traffic. I have located some potential lakes, but they need further checking.

Hey Art, try Lake Washington.

Launch in Kenmore and go out past the big floating barge. Stop the boat about 50-100 yards south of the barge and put your lines in.

You can't keep them off!

Thanks everyone:
KJackson, I am from Spokane and have hit all those spots in the past but they have all slacked off badly over the last couple years.
Thank-you for the sugestions though.

Mike Thanks for the site. The past few years Moses Lake has been on fire this time of year but this year the fish are much smaller than in the past from what we have herd from a few friends.

King, Dad will check out the waste way on his way home Thursday. I will post a report.

Riley, I will check out the big lake weather permitting. Let me know if your interested in giving it a try and I will make Brian drag out the sled so something can be caught out of it. slap

I will second the Big Lake comment. That lake has some huge perch. You can usually catch them in the coves around 10 ft of water or along the weedline.

Good luck.

This may be a little late to help you but Scootney reservoir south of potholes has the best perch fishing I've ever seen. Grandpa, my brother, two cousins, and I have left with 300 perch averaging 14 inches in a week and usually we get some walleye, bass, and bluegill along with 'em just to make it interesting.
