I appreciate the wide angle view, especially when it's being created from such a small camera (both the Countour and the GoPro), but I for one do not like the "fish eye" look...a little is all right, but it's pretty extreme and annoying to my eyes.

That being said, not sure there is a way to get much of a view out of such a small camera without it.

Fish on...

Todd

Little too much coffee in your first video Riley?

Those GoPro's have made the rounds in dirtbiking circles the last few years. A couple of friends of mine use them when we ride or when they race. Amazing quality in good light conditions.

I'm with Todd on the fisheye view being a bit extreme for me. I know there are different settings because when I view some of our dirtbike vids, the field of view is only slightly "fisheye" and relatively flat.

What's so cool with these cameras(and why the company is making a fortune right now) is the compact size versus video quality. The possibilities are endless in a driftboat or, as was mentioned, wear one attached to your hat. Not that hard to do. You may get a few odd looks but the footage gained would be worth it.....especially a bite and hookset.

I took a new series of shots for a timelapse video today and will do the post processing after I put my girls to bed, will have it up around 11.

Drove from my house to Doctors office in Bellevue, .5 seconds per frame. it took 4570 5mp frames.... should be good.

This guy seems to have placement/angle/composition all pretty well figured out. Not too much "fisheye" effect either.

Nice fish Tony, but remember to always put the back of the camera towards the sun!

That camera angle in the Kenai video can be accomplished with a folbe rod holder, or the GoPro handle bar mount and 90degree angle mount attachement and a monopod, which is what I intend to try on the Duc in three weeks. Thankfully in a 'toon or raft there's plenty of bar to mount to.

2nd test specs:
.5 seconds per frame
5 megapixels and 720p, downconverted to 480
~15 minute drive from Woodinmilf to Bellevue took 2457 frames.
Reduced images to 800x600
rendered at 10fps
think I have it dialed now in terms of what settings to use for different conditions...

After a couple minutes, you'll get the idea...kind of a boring flick, but I'm just testing to check out the Timelapse functionality...
