Been reading the boards from afar for some time now and figured that it was time to join.

I found out not to long ago that I've been drawn for a Margaret A rifle bull tag. The hunt I normally put in for was no longer available, so I thought I'd put in for one of the most difficult draws and add another point to my name for next year. Surprisingly (in a very good way)...I got drawn . Not familiar with the area or the hunt itself and was wondering if anyone out there had any advice. I'll be scouting it heavily up to the opener in November, but was wondering what to expect, successes, access, good contacts...pretty much as much info as possible. Anything would be helpful.

Good job on the draw. I've been putting in for that tag for years archery though. Never been there but did read just recently that the margaret is completely locked uop behind gates now. That is fine by me but some don't like that. Good luck and let us no haw you do.

It is one of the hardest tags to get for a reason, ITS AWESOME IN THERE. Before they locked it up you could drive through there and see 30+ branched bulls in one meadow. Go up by st helens (castle rock side) and walk in the road on the left just before you're to the coldwater lake turnoff. Sorry i don't remember the road number. Take a right at the first y (flatter walk for first trip in). Good luck to ya.

Thanks for the info guys. I'm actually kind of glad it's locked up. Keep people from driving through and spooking them.

I assume you can still access most of area by foot or mountain bike? Any particular area where they seem to be more concentrated?
