Seaching the archives I ran across this post of Dan's over two years ago. I think it deserves a re-posting. Absolutely a class act!! Enjoy!

So it was the Democrats who balanced the budget and the GOP that ran up massive debt, or was it the GOP who balanced the budget and the Democrats who ran up massive debt?

Face it, 98% of you voted for President based on the D or the R next to the guy's name. Otherwise, you have jumped on the bandwagon with me and Andy and voted for Ron Paul. A little kooky, maybe, but the only one who wasn't a "meet the new boss, same as the old boss" kind of guy. I mostly blame the GOP for not making RP the nominee, and instead going with McCain, who I actually find to be as decent a man as you can be in Congress, and Sarah Palin, who couldn't find her own [Bleeeeep!] with two hands and a flashlight. The Palin VP choice was so preposterous that it scrubbed any chance of me voting for the GOP ticket.

And then there's Obama. Straight outta Chicago, where politicians tend to be as crooked as a dog's hind leg. A meteoric rise, with little track record to back it up. The VP choice was head and shoulders better than the opposition's choice, but still nothing to get excited about. But I didn't vote for Obama, because I felt that as the DNC poster child, he'd come in and pander to the left side of the party, who have always bugged me as a guy who mostly votes Democrat, but owns guns and likes to kill sh!t, and have people leave me the hell alone about what I eat/drink/smoke/shoot/wear/listen to. The Tipper Gores and Nancy Pelosis of the party rub me wrong.

So that's why I voted for RP. Me and 172 others nationwide.

And here we sit wondering why nothing's changed. It would be hilarious if it wasn't so sad.

It all boils down to this - I'm right, everyone else is wrong, and anyone who disputes this is clearly a dumbfuck.

I've been meaning to tell you to see someone about your dementia, Illy, but I see you've already self-diagnosed.

And that post is just as true today as it was then. Obama has been nearly a complete disappointment to me. I can barely distinguish between his administration and Bush's - and nether one of them seemed to have any clue.

Since then, I've reached another conclusion. This country needs a dictator, not a president. This country's problems are too big to be fixed by our political structure. We have too many "party first, country second" members of congress that should be eliminated from the process. With so many hundreds of people responsible for the laws that have brought us to where we are, it's become impossible to lay blame where it belongs. Politicians love it, because knuckleheads can continue to pretend their side is doing all they can to rescue us, and it's the "other party" that's ruined everything.

One thing that has changed is this. I care less now. I just don't have it in me to worry about what's out of my control.............so I don't. I just keep my head down, go to work, collect my check, pay my bills and taxes, and hope the fools in DC don't ruin the whole f'n country. Seems like it will only be a matter of time, though.

I'm glad you liked that post, slabby. I try to make a solid post now and then. wink

Hmm. When I think of all time best posts I think of when Chuck S goes all "Thursday" on us.

except for the bit about your own petard, that wasn't a bad post.

I don't believe the likes of a Chaves or Peron will fix our problems
for us. What will fix the problems is the voter assuming his
responsibilities. A 50 or 60 percent of those registered turnout is
unacceptable at any election. If you don't give an RA about the
process that made this country great, don't grumble about the
clusterphuck governance has become.
