This story puts in perspective just how different our society looks at their own sacrifices. http://blog.seattlepi.com/jacklewis/2011/11/09/110-percenters/Fishy

I'm really getting sick of all the 'Merica haters, 'specially those poor ones who don't pay enough taxes.

Just like there are those that will always bring up how those tax cuts help the lowly worker by creating all those jobs. I have never heard so much drivel in all my life. When you fatten that calf all you get is what comes out the other end so keeping waiting for your turn to become one of those one-percenters cause it is never going to happen.
The lies told by both parties is bad enough but at least the Dems throw the average person a bone once in awhile while the GOP continues to squat over us!
Hard to believe that half the population is so deluded.

It's not the tax rate that needs to change, but rather that percentage of income that is taxed. The reason that Millionaires pay a lower over all rate is not because the rate is too low, but rather because they know how to hide their income. Raise the rate, and more income disappears. Romney paid 15% because he found it cheaper to take his income in the form of investment income. Change the rate of investment income, and he will probably change it into a different form and get his income differently. I know someone who was a included in a lot of dinners with the top echalon of a corporation. The company would pay to transport them to a top end resort where they would drink $5000+ bottles of wine, play golf, get massages and then fly back without having to report a penny of it as income. He had an exclusive private club membership with a food allowance, a private car and much more. None of it was considered income, it was all deductable. Most of the super rich now have corporate jets, company vacation homes and much more. Raise the rate, and more income will be dispersed this way. The only ones paying the increase rates will be people like my parents, who, upon turning 65 sold off a large parcel of land and made over a million. They were self employed all their lives and this was their only retirement. By the time they paid their taxes and such they were able to invest the rest conservatively and make around $5000 a month, which includes their social security. By the time they pay their bills they make it by ok at best. But, as they made over a million that year, maybe they should have paid 90% instead of 15%. Then they could try to live on the great sum of $3000 a month or less. I mean why not, they are millionaires.

Slave owners created jobs and so do people that use child labor are they also included in your question?
Oligarchs do not create jobs that have liveable wages and usually take the bulk of those monies to live lavishly.
I gave lots of people jobs and they had a very liveable wage, benefits, vacation and opportunity to contribute to their retirement and I was rewarded handsomely but not to the tune of 750 times what the average earner makes.
How many jobs have you created Hank?

Ahh Hank, as entertaining as this is I will walk away shaking my head at how you can be, well, you.
We have had our dust-ups and even made a gentlemen agreement to talk about what we don't like about our chosen parties, which you reneged on and after seeing your picture on another recent thread I have finally figured it out.
Constant posting while coping and pasting from everywhere on the web and seemingly arguing with everyone within earshot and then the picture of you holding those fish, (nice fish by the way) lends this snapshot of you. Older and lonely with no life other than whomever you are arguing with at the moment, hanging on ever post to come out with something you derive as pithy and generally being annoying, which seems to envelope your total life right now. Most here have lives and live in the real world at least part of the time and don't get drawn in to what happens here totally, then there is you and that just seems so pathetic.

I still believe that if everyone had skin in the game money would be spent more responsibly Those that pay no federal tax have skin in the game and some probably know something about spending money wisely, especially since they pay more in taxes percentage wise than the average earner. Fishy

The 'Splainin' is that federal income tax is just one of the many federal taxes paid, not to mention state taxes, and sale taxes.

One thing I can't get over though is, whenever a lefty talks about the Cheney deferments, they don't also talk about the five deferments Biden got or draft dodgin' Billy Bob. you really can't figure that one out? hint... the problem isn't the deferments but being cavalier about the lives of others when you are hell bent for war and degrading those who disagree with your war. being a hypocritical pussy is the problem not being unwilling to serve.

Todd GMAFB....I knew someone would try to hang their argument on a non-starter but I didn't think it'd be you. If someone is in such a low federal tax bracket, low as in ZERO, to say they pay as much or more in sales tax means they either waste their wellfare money or should cut the phvck back on their frivalous spending. It's possible and quite probable that much of their non-taxed income is spent on lotto tickets, booze and cigarettes which are heavily taxed so in that respect you may be right, in which case...see above.
