My trip will be over NE of Spokane... and it will be the first brown one that steps in front of me.
Here's a tip... look for a beard... and use a face mask. Also... check yourself for ticks afterwards. That's prime tick season. I'm a stinkin' tick magnet and they like the way I smell. A friend of mine is being treated for Lyme's disease and his tick had to be from WA state. Must be the first reported case. I'll be spraying myself with bug repellent each morning before I head out.

I will be heading to N.E. Washington. This will be my second year chasing the bearded bird.

I would love to hunt turkeys. Do any of you hunters use a bow, or is that just too hard to do? I've got a standard 12 guage, but it has no choke. Is that okay to use for turkey or do you really need a choke and magnum shells?

Your gun has some kind of choke. It may not be interchangable, but it has some kind of restriction. It's probably an improved cylinder or something pretty open. It's not a good choice for turkeys,if that's the case. Most turkey guns have some kind of really tight choke. Extra-full, super-full,or something along those lines. You don't body shoot a turkey, you always aim for the head...Yes aim like a rifle.
Bows are another matter, alot of guys hunt turkeys with a bow. I don't bowhunt so I can't give any specifics,I'm sure someone else here can fill you in.
