I went to rent one yesterday and was shocked to hear they want $80.00 a day with tax. So, I may be in the market to buy one. I am looking for suggestions. Brand, size, things to look for. I will use it for loose paint removal , sidewalk cleanup and possibly to clean unpainted surfaces in my boat.

Anything less than 2000psi is a joke and the spinning nozzle makes a huge difference and is Hell on loose paint. Home Depot is a good place to start or if you have a Lamda dealer nearby I think they are more durable. Of course, the money you spend will be proportional to the quality received, just like anything else. Good luck Dave (Not Mr Vedder)

Having owned several gas powered units and had trouble with all of them, I bought an electric last year after my latest gas model went TU. It cost me about $250 but is pretty good for me and I use it just like your talking about, along with that spinning nozzle thing it has all the power I need with none of gas owners worries. I bought it at Home Depot and it came on a cart for easy wheeling and is made by Homelite.
Does what I need it to do.
  Hope this helps.

depends on how much you are wanting to spend Mr Vedder...i had a 3000 PSI Troy Bilt (that was stolen), and currently have a 2700 PSI Champion, both of which are rather cheap, but decent performing... the TB has 5 different nozzles for the spread, and the Champion has the hand operated rotating nozzle which is rather nice...
personally, i would look at Maxus, or Power Boss models, with the Honda engine on them... and something in the 2800-3500 PSI range..

I have had the DeWalt 3800 PSI for 5 years and use it dam near every weekend and it has been flawless. For my boat there are several nozzles that work but for sidewalks, patios and garage approach I use a turbo tip. $80 for the turbo tip but money well spent.

I have a Kacher with 6hp Honda engine that cranks out 2650 psi. Had an electric one but it didn't last long.

I dont think you should buy one unless you have a lot of use for it...because you'll have to store it...where? I have a 3500 PSI Honda you can borrow to do your driveway and clean up Tye's love toys...

Borrowing Ryley's schit is way better than buying your own He'll probably even bring it over and you won't even have to pick it up yourself...play the old man card. You're welcome for my help Fish on... Todd

...play the old man card.
Also, have Sky "show you how to run it" . Ask lots of questions and otherwise keep him pleasantly distracted while he is demonstrating. Hint of having some premium beer on ice. That should do it.

Yup borrow one. Cheap and prevents you from becoming a "perennial pressure washer" whom the neighbors hate.

You're welcome for my help Fish on... Todd Maybe you can arrange to have an emergency on the day that Ryley brings it over and he would do the job also. Seems a win/win to me.

Trying to imagine what goes with Prune Juice? Vodka?
A drunk geriatric with a high powered pressure washer....and his hyper sidekick Tye.
