A friend of mine talked with our local game warden and he told them to not buy their tags yet cause there might not be a hunting season. Unless we get some rain. Now that would really suck.
What happens if they do close the woods and the guys that drew their special tags can't use them? A similiar thing happened a couple years ago in the margaret unit, but I don't remember what the outcome was.

I too have heard the rumors. Chelan county has even banned charcoal BBQ's, even in the city limits. I'm sure that there will be a access ban.

Well here we are just a few days away from opening day of deer archery season and I'm starting to see more and more roads and areas closing. Not looking to good for us. Anyone else seeing this around there area?

Hey Glowball,
I don't know if the woods are closing, but a few years back (3 or 4 maybe?) when Weyerheauser closed their roads during the archery elk season, the guys who drew special tags in the Margaret got their points back. This happened to a good friend of mine, so I know it happened that way.
Good luck.

The dry summers over the past few years are the reason why I rarely hunt the early season anymore for ML, and stopped hunting modern for deer because the majority of the season is in October when there is a good chance the woods will still be closed.
We only have a few days, 7, and the woods are crackly dry. I sure like the late season when the deer are more active, and you can sneak up on them in a quieter fashion.
Best of luck, hope you have some private land lined up.

It's been almost a month since Weyco closed 1/2 million acres in Grays Harbor, Lewis and Pacific counties, and Rayonier has closed theirs too. USFS land is still open, and I know guys out hunting bear on it. Long drives, and you better know your boundaries! Sure isn't looking too good for any relief from the dry weather either. Oh well, hunt when you can, fish because you can.
