Hey all,
I have been in the area for about 2 years, and just went on my first duck hunt last year. I was wondering if any of you had any info on where to go dove hunting in Yakima county. I would like to shoot some doves before the ducks get in. Any info would be great!

Make a big batch of smoked salmon then start knocking on doors.

Look for vineyards and wheat fields. There are lots of places over there. We used to drive around till we would see good concentrations of birds then ask to hunt. I know a few people over there so I usually don't do the drive, spot, and knock thing anymore.

Smoked salmon has real good bargaining power over there on the East Side. Keystone Light, for some odd reason, does too.

Bunnyblack,
I don't mind the driving, but what is a good area to drive to? I don't want to drive for nothing. Can you give me some locations in the Yakima county area.

Sorry, I know it's past dove season...but here's something that should help immensely.

http://www.ynwildlife.org/

Pay the Yakama Nation $30, you get a map and permission to hunt the green areas on it. Plain and simple. smile

FWIW, I was down for the first weekend of dove season and limited out both days I was there. Went down the next week and got skunked. The birds had moved on. Didn't see a single dove but marked my map/GPS where I saw 4 different covey of quail. wink Opens on the 1st of Oct.

I will NEVER pay the Indians a penny to get a map.

You don't really have to, the map is on that website. You're paying for the permission to hunt their property. Pretty simple, actually. Best part is that if you don't want to hunt there then you don't have to pay for access. zip
