Got back to my trailer to recover the boat at the JR ramp and found some broken glass on the ground next to the truck. At first glance I figured it was just a broken bottle that I should avoid running over.

Then I went to put my jacket and bibs into the canopy, and as I closed the lid, the entire left window shattered to pieces. Dirty bass turds smashed in my canopy window today while parked at JR ramp!

It happened sometime between 7:30 am and 4:00 pm. Really makes a guy wonder if it's a personal attack or a random "smash and run" type of thing.

Looks like the dimwits tried to pry at the corners.

Doc,

My guess, seeing as how the window is mostly shattered, and not smashed out with $hit missing, is that it is most likely some sort of accident, but the perp didn't man up and leave contact info.

1) If it was personal, they would have likely targeted your eyeFISH back window.

2) If it was to grab something, more window would be missing.

3) I had a friend peel out like a wannabe-bada$$ in the parking lot and his tires threw a rock into the side window of another rig, breaking it damn near exactly like yours. Could be something like that.

... or the neighbor kid got a new pellet gun.

I have a canopy like that....the new frameless window design.

Now look at the damaged corners....the dimwits tried to pry out the entire glass. They're stuck pretty well.
Probably spent too much time, got frustrated and broke the center.
Apparently, then got spooked off.

Random dimwits.

The tinted widows probably hindered their attempt to see what was inside. Once they punched the hole they most likely saw nothing of value. Just my opinion based on what I have observed.

Time to set up the camera. Your better off to set it in a place that can record the plates of vehicle as well as what the Dirt Bags are doing. That would be great evidence for L.E.

I think it was attempted theft but you didn't have enough stuff of value to take. (since they were trying to pry from the corners. That is such sh!t. Sorry that happened Francis.

We have experienced both theft and vandalism at 3 different launches in Grays Harbor. The thefts were never anything of value except the broken glass, the vandalism was likely by a boat launch jackwagon.

The hell of it is that the back lid/window is ALWAYS unlocked.

Hopefully AARO Glass will have me fixed up before prime time.

Sorry to hear that Doc, the same thing happened to me at the Gig Harbor launch a few months ago, except they broke the rear slider on my truck. All they took was some change and my flashlight, then left it locked and climbed out the slider.
Sucks........
