Same deal with mine. My canopy was unlocked. They pried through the side window, and cut out the mesh. Only to determine the back was already open so they just got in. Took my lunch, my partners running shoes, and my XtraTuff boots.

If you have 3 claims in one year most insurers put you in a high risk group and cancel you. Your only option then is to buy from a broker that sells high risk policies and your your rates will go up by 50 to 100% and it takes 3 years to with low claims to come off the list. It iss all claims not just auto ,so your homeowners too. Read your policy for specifics then ask your agent, do not contact the insurance company directly a call to them about a policy question can be considered a claim. The assumption is your a calling becasue something happened.

Wow Francis....that's $hitty. It's been said already but I agree; theft attempt judging by the pry marks, peered inside and didn't see anything worth pursuing further and bailed.

And yeah, it seems a bit odd they didn't just lift the rear window. In a hurry I guess??

Hopefully this crap stops once the season gets going and the parking area get's busy with lot's of eyes looking.

Sorry to read this Francis! Thanks for the pm by the way.

I got my truck broken into twice within six months at the same park where I walk in to fish. Pretty busy place. The bastages pried my drivers side lock the first time = got nothing. Second time, you think they'd remember and use the same now non-working lock... nope pried the passenger side and that time they got about 5-600$ worth of goods. The damage to the vehicle usually outweighs whatever they may get from inside.

What goes around comes around...

Wishing you better luck to come.

GREAT!

Just as I'm about to spend the next month fishing out of that ramp. Guess I'll move up the road to Westport.

OR

I might sit in the bushes with a sniper rifle and eliminate the problem.

By the way....sorry to hear about your lose.

I had that crap happen to my Audi last year. Ever since then I hand a strand of old hooks camflouaged in 5 meter incriments around my car when I fish.

We all can do our part when using boat ramps.. Watch for people who look out of place like they shouldn't be there write down license plate numbers if something seems suspicious and call sheriff.
It really sucks having to worry about your rig when you should be out enjoying your time on the water.

Don't worry Doc, we got your back. You know I will go to hell and back for you if necessary. This is the number one advantage to having a broker that is working for you...not the insurance company!

To try the rear door first would have taken a modicum of intelligence....

I too, am sorry to hear that. It sucks that you can't go fishing without worrying that you may come back to a beat up car or even worse a stolen car and trailer which has happened in the past. I don't think this kind of crap will ever end until we come up with some sort of plan. The only thing I can come up with is a "sting" of some kind. If enough guys get their @sses kicked and word gets around that there could be angry fisherman in the bushes it may slow down or stop. The unfortunate reality is law enforcement will never have enough people to be able to cover boat launches. I have a feeling launches would be way down on the priority list. A good bonk or two with a wood shampoo tool and a stiff warning that the next time they could be eating dirt may be just what the doctor ordered. Or, the passive approach would be to stay hidden and video the crime. I would prefer both!!!!

part of the problem is that property crimes don't generate revenue
