fished the afternoon exchange around the mouth of the hoquiam. witnessed at least a dozen fish boated(that i could see), but no runs, no hits, no errors for me.

got checked by the county sheriff and hassled about the "WN" on my boat being too close to my registration numbers, and the stickers being on the wrong end of the numbers(seriously?)

looks like it was a bit more productive than the last few openers i've fished.

Wow.....did I miss something at NOF.......remember NOTHING about a Region 6 Chehalis, keep Chinook west of the 101 bridge, and no Chinook until October 1 for the in-river fishermen. Shame on Phil Anderson, Ron Warren, and Kirt Hughes for allowing this to happen.

Really puts the in-river fishermen at a disadvantage, for legal Chinook retention.....QIN goes in noon September 23, 24, 25, noon take out, then October 1 instead of allowing some Chinook for the "in-river" fishermen, the mass killing/blood starts. October 1 - Otober 21 there will be gillnets in the river, daily, EXCEPT for October 6 and 13.

In river fishermen really gets the "short end of the stick"....Mall fishermen, get to fish lot's of muddy water, beccause of all the GillNet boats running back and forth. Needs to be a better way to allocate, a better chance for the "in-river" fishermen a chance at Chinook and more Coho.

NOF....really isn't all its suppose to be......we never know during the meetings...what kind of gillnetting schedule the QIN is going to have, days and times.

grrrrrrrrrrr to the process, grrrrrrrrrrr to WDFW for what they do to the in-river fishermen.

I agree with you fully on this one. Ron Warren has a way of cooking the books manipulating the numbers to give the NT gillnetters more days at our expense.

Heading up to property on Johns 2 fish for a few days, does not sound like fishen is that good, after 6 years of king closer for us you would think that there would be some fish around if our game department managed it better, instead of letting comercials & Indians killing all the fish. They should know better by now, look at the California Rivers that after closures they rebounded 10 fold this year.

That Oct 1 delayed opener for kings really confused a lot of people. I'm sure there is some paper fish reason that they are doing it, but I had it wrong in my head up until Friday afternoon. I did not see any kings retained or even caught for that matter above Monte, but I did hear a lot of confusion about that rule. If they are trying to protect summer/early kings you would think that they would have made the deadline Monte or Fuller Bridge.

As far as reports go, it is about as expected for me, water is warm and the fish that are around aren't very aggressive. Need more fish, or cooler weather/more water.

The rules are clear, but what happens is a lot of people talking about how great it is that "we can keep kings this year" and they don't realize it has a delayed opener.

Unbelievably, there are people who go fishing having never read the rules before venturing out. There are also people who have poor reading comprehension, or are just dumb. Or even worse, ask another boat about the rules after they have a fish flopping on the deck.

Protect? WDFW & the QIN are going to harvest every bloody paper fish above escapement that the agreed to model allows and fits in the FRAM. If we don't take them the bloody gillnetters will or the tribe. If you want to argue conservation start a thread. This thread is about all of us helping out all to track em down to CATCH THEM so we can EAT them. NOF is done & gone it is harvest time every darn one us has the right harvest our share to the best of our abilities.

Lost two Coho that thought they were supposed run around my boat at a high rate of speed jumping two a half feet. 3 more caught next to me but it is at the morning tide change as they pick up and leave the Cosy and above then few follow. They are moving at the very front of the incoming and 63.5 water temp.

Edit: Everybody be careful because with these tides a lot of debris is coming down the river. I just helped a guy get going that got to the dock and he said he hit a log and did not see it until the last second. A few more minutes to the ramp is not that bad.

One jack and the guy next to me got a Chin about 25 lbs and turned it loose. Water temp hit 64 in the morning as the tide turned but it was clearer than other days for the most part. Not many folks around.

Almost forgot. The fish movement pattern remained today as lined out before. It stinks to say the least.

Took a ride down to Grays Harbor/Aberdeen yesterday. About 60-70 boat trailers at the 28th Street launch, most appeared down and in front of the Hoquiam River. Talked with a few guys....an occasional coho and a few jacks.

Friends Landing and Monty boat launches....5-7 trailers at each, about the same success...an occasional coho or two, some lost a fish or two, and a couple jacks. Saw one seal at Monty picking up fish guts along the shore.

Some fish in the river for sure, but a rain will do wonders.

They are here and moving but do not have a feel for numbers but they made the reach by my house today on the incoming tidal push. Much better than the slow move up and is a break in the pattern that was all week. One Coho / one Chin jack released and I watched a grown man nearly cry as he released a very large clipped Chinook.

Looks fun, but us bankies need some rain for the Satsop and Nooch. I need a boat, or even better, friends with boats!
