Looks like next week (Mon-Friday) lows in the morning are at like 10, 10:30, 11, 11:30 a.m. and 12 noon respectively. Monday's reading...1.4, Tues 1.9, Weds. 2.4 etc. Is the ramp still in water pretty good with those lows. Plan on getting there like two hours before low tide.

Thanks again...........

No, somewhat familiar with the river. I have launched at Friends, at low, but with a 22' North River, I just thought Monty would be a better choice.

Fished outta 28th St today 2 for 5 with 3 rods. Man did that afternoon wind blow up or what? Sure cleared the pack out there!

Major shout out to Raptor24 for providing me with a spare net today (forgot mine in the garage)... credit for the two wild coho in the box goes to him!

Fished outta 28th St today... planned on 3 rods, but picked up 3 stray dogs to round out a respectable spread.

Glory day weather wise, but too nice to fill the box.

2 for 7 counting one jack to pad the numbers

Sounds like it has slowed considerably since Thurs. Fri. We had double digit hookups for 3 rods both days 3 hrs before high slack when it died. Nice to sleep in and have awesome action. Where are the kings? Was a Ho show for us counting on one hand the number of kings we saw landed both days.

All the biters that were kegged up in the bay are statistically dead. If at least a thousand kings didn't end up in a cold dark aluminum box over the first full weekend of the fishery, I'll eat my shorts.

Now it's just a matter of a handful of new biters showing up fresh from the ocean with each tide.

Fished Monte bridge up yesterday. Lots-o-jumpers and nailed one on the third cast of the morning. Then as the tide came up it really slowed down. Next hook up was at 1pm and was a very small silver. As the tide changed we picked up our first king around 6pm. Nice little 10lb. or so fish, too bad we watched it swim away.

We were throwing spinners, but that seemed to really slow when the tide was all the way up. Any suggestion for the high water stuff?

My suggestion is to keep fishing. Sometimes they just go off at the peak tide, other times the river looks barren when the tide comes in. It is all about zigging when you should zig, and zagging when you should zag. Sounds like a lot of casting for 3 fish, but not abnormal for this time of year in the area. You could have been around the bend from a fresh school of fish that would have given you some great action during the peak.

The Chehalis can be really frustrating, especially with this really low water.

Beware!!!!!!! Gravel bar between "Lukins and lower pump house", got another boat today. Where you could run last year......not so this year. What looks like enough water......isn't!!!! The slot is very narrow and goes in a crazy direction. Better be able to handle your boat....if running this section at low water.......

At a minus tide.....I'm not sure its runable......until tide starts to make the push.

Jacks available, eggs of course.....Twitching is working for the Silvers.....I've not seen a Chinook caught.....not saying the Chinook aren't there, just that I've not caught or seen anyone with one on.

I've fished everyday since 9/16, while I don't fish more than 3 - 4 hours, my observation.....Lot's of hours are spent per fish caught.

Lower basin report... slow going for the cowboys thru the lunch hour. Lots of effort. Catch has been dominated by coho, very few kings encountered according to one on-board observer. One boat disabled at the 28th St ramp.

Looks like things improved in the second half.

Fish buyer and WDFW's CWT sampler were mighty busy workin' totes and wheelbarrows at the lower takeout. I heard numbers in the range of 100 fish per boat... some as low as 60-80 and one high-liner in the 200 fish range. Maybe 10% kings encountered with most of them throwbacks.

I'm with ya drifter, I've fishe all but 3 days so far, the first week @ friends up to the Nooch & last week down @ 28th St toward the green bouy, total fish in the box is 6 & I ain't gonna talk about the ones that got away!!!! Been tough this year...

I saw the kill netters doing their duty, we fished west of them but not a consistant bite on the 2 tide changes we fished...

One of the sled guys will have to do that but if you don't know those land marks then it is not a good idea to visit that area with this water.

On fishing it sucks. If you happen to land on some holding it is OK but it has thinned down with the nets, a lot! So if your a prop boat then it is simple South Monte DOWN find the seals. With the QIN in it will be slim pickings everywhere now.

WooleyRunner:

mmmmm, guess you'll have to tell me the "land marks", YOU know between South Monty and Fuller Bridge.....maybe I can dial you in.

No one ran it 10/2/2012, at low water.......well a couple of guys tried it in a "prop boat".....ended up pulling boat up the fast water. Think they wondered why they went to all the effort.......couple of guide boats and 6 or 7 sleds, plus all the bankies in the area.

QIN heavy netting, messed up tides(hold over), its why I'm sitting home, at this time.....

Be safe!!!!!!!!
