Any of you guys ever go after these?
I know it's no licence, no limit, and I have my Swedish 6.5x55 Mauser with a bayonet fixed ready to go score some fatback, I just don't know for sure where they are.
Any help?

The only official word on them was a release back in Ought One and all it said was that if you see one let us know and that they are officially classified as "Feral Domestics" so its ok to shoot them w/o a licence.
So it is entirely plausible that it is a just a rumor.

Since this topic is about hogs I figured I'd post a picture of a hog we recently took over here in Japan. I live in one of the few areas where hunting is alive and well in Japan. Sorry about the photo quality we have real issues with good photo development over here. Steve

I have seen zebra and bison in the valley around there. Course the farmer would be mad if some one shot them

Well, it's what I thought, a local legend/rumour.
All the same, I'll bring a gun when I'm up there.
Steve Horton: I didn't know firearms were permitted in Japan.

Ichtyoid: Generally speaking they are not. Here's the rundown to the best of my knowledge. To own a fire arm and hunt with one is a long process. First you have to belong to a hunting club and there are not very many of them as I understand it. Second you have to test and prove you can actually handle/shoot the weapon properly. From there I'm not 100% that is it or not but you will get in big trouble if you haven't completed all the steps to become a licensed hunter. I hunt with some of the locals that work here on base. When I say "hunt" that means I go with. I'm not allowed to shoot anything.

The forest service ranger for this area is a close personal friend of mine and spends everyday in this area. He has never seen a hog or a track from one. If anyone would know of any hogs he would.
