i like the shorter rods for twitching. only drawback is lack of a loaded up rod to keep the hook in when using barbs, but not that big of a deal in my experience.
i'd prefer something in the 7'0-7'9 range, like a mag bass or "popping" blank, rated around 6-15, or 8-17. i've been using spinning reels, but maybe a levelwind setup would be the ticket for some real pinpoint casting accuracy.

i like the shorter rods for twitching. only drawback is ......... they're almost all 1 piece rods. At 7-7'9" they can be annoying to transport without a boat.

They are one piece and that is what makes them so much better then there 2 piece longer counter parts....just one less weak spot in the rod and when your me you need that...........

Merg's mom must have grounded him. No more using her computer till he cleans his room. I think his ass still hurts from his recent meeting with Karma(and LEO's)..I imagine he has upped his working hours.. I do remember him talking about how the shorter rod works better, and the reasons why are also talked about in a great post by "keta" on this site from several years ago, easily laid out info in sections....almost like it was for a tape or dvd series...

I had one made after fishing Fly's twitching rods.. Great rods!
The only problem I found is the damn spinning reel ... Constantly throwing up against brush, grass, under trees, I personally prefer the control of a bait caster...
I had mine made casting and put a revo sx on top of it and I can toss just as far, in tighter, and compensate with my thumb in the case of a professional over run may be about to occur..
Love this rod.. did I need it to twitch jigs? Hell no, did I need the other 12 + gotta have rods in the rack...nope
More money than sense... twitchen rod is for you : )
