I'm not picky and haven't set any insane goals for myself. I'm just looking to stick a Doe before the 31st. It's easiest for me to get into GMU 407 around Monroe or into parts of 454. if you know of any areas where the Doe population needs thinning, shoot me a PM. figured I'd throw it out there.

C'mon Man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! like I said, figured I'd throw it out there. I'm bout to brew some elk tag soup this weekend if I head back into Winston for the closer on Saturday and still don't find them. I'd rather not make deer tag soup as well...

Notre which areas are open to bow hunters, but I've taken 9 deer within a 10 mile radius of where I live. Lots of deer.

651 Satsop, is muzzle loading. 660 Minot Peak and 663 Capitol Forest are bow, any deer, through 12-31-12. We hunted 663 for ML and modern about 15 days this year. I could talk you through a few spots if you want some pointers. It worked for Fish Ranger last year.
A mountain bike would get you some prime access, and an easy ride.
  Let me know.

thanks dogfish. we'll see what happens tomorrow and or this weekend and I'll let you know.
  And 2many,
Not all of us grew up hunting...I'd be damn proud to bring home a doe or even a button buck with a bow or any weapon for that matter being this is my first year.

No worries. Just send me a PM with your number and we can talk. If need be I can get you started in the right direction and drive out to a few starting points with you. I think 2Many was commenting on my "easy ride" comment, and being rather sick. Not that I was offended. Shot many a doe in the late season. Nothing to be ashamed of at all.

thanks 2MANY. that's good info right there. I'll take it. we were up in the snow on Sunday morning at our first stop. walked in behind a gate over a mile and back into a massive cut. didn't see a single deer track along the road in and out of the timber. The snow was about 4" deep and very crunchy from the freeze the night before. figured we would have seen some fresh tracks but maybe they were holed up deep in the timber where the snow can't penetrate? on our way out there were fresh, dirty little coyote tracks in our tracks and it had taken a dump along our tracks. must have just missed the little guy. I'd love to stick one.

I hunted sequim and Port Angeles for a few days in the early season. definitely a few deer there... had fun driving through diamond point and seeing a doe bedded in damn near every yard in the neighborhood. Drove by the diamond point airport and there was at least ten Doe's bedded at one end of the landing strip. I'm guessing you're located somewhere around there.

I live at the top of diamond pt. rd. and grew up here. Yes we have a lot of deer around here, but a lot of private property. Got a lot of friends with property of course so we hunt both private and public every year. Always big deer shot amongst other critters. Gotta be careful around here with the private property issue Drew. We have a lot of timber we run from brinnon all the way to the queets. Stick to the cuts and put in the time. We unfortunately have no late season in the 621, but we do in 624. PLENTY of deer still around. Put in some miles and go get one!

Well that's no help at all there Danny. Haha. that's ok though. Thanks to a good fellow on the board I've been on deer the last two weekends. putting it all together is another story though. Learning every day.

putting it all together is another story though. Learning every day. Doing the later will improve the prior. Just keep doing it and it will come together. Been reading your posts and you seem very vigilant at both hunting and seeking improvement. If you stay in the game at your current level of effort you will put it together in no time.
