Like I said, I hae no intention on keeping the boat, me and one of the partners made a deal and it is up to them to honor it ! Which I believe they will....they seemed like decent guys on the phone.... Its funny how [Bleeeeep!] gets around......I have already recieved some interesting phone calls and emails today !!!
Joe, good job! Btw, I have one of the oars from that boat (I think) that I would love to return to the owner (free) so if you could have them PM me we could arrange a pickup.

Hey Bucket - it was just a trip down memory lane with a hint of wishful thinking before 40 years of marriage took it's toll. Your marriage future, rookie.

If or when I ever sink a driftboat, what would you expect the fee to recover would be? For instance what are you expecting to be paid for your MBP efforts here? Just wonderin ...

First off you were not getting this boat out with just a " Rope " here is some of the things I used in the retrival.
1. Drysuit 2. professional dive mask and snorkel ( yes I had to go under water ) 3. REI climbing rope, I believe the size to be about 12 mm or so. 4. tow strap 5. multiple caribeeners 6. Bouys
Anyways the owners had contacted the dept. and told them they wanted the boat, so the dept did what they could to keep the vultures and thieves off of it. and I said I was willing to take a shot at it. The Wardens then had the owners call me and we made a deal .
I told them it would probably be a 500.00 minimum because of how it was lodged in and buried.....if they would have left the boat when it first sank instead of trying to get it out themselves it would have came right out, but as it was it was buried so hard in there that i had to go under water and shovel gravel off of the bow to dislodge it. The original place were the boat was lodged was about 7 feet deep so thye only way to get a line on it was to go under water and hook it up..................so actually after destroying a 200 foot piece of climbing rope which is a bunch of money and then the amount of time I was in the cold ass water I am going to ask for a minimum of 750.00 bucks which is more then a fair price for the time and effort that was involed. we will see, the boat is definateley worth the effort because it is in great shape .................... here is what it looks like now.................................

I want to know.....legal or not.....to cut those trees and let them float down the river?????
I agree with all the comments about "seeing the hazard 1/4 mile away" but 2 boats sunk in a week......don't think they "had both oars in the water" !!!!

That is a d@mn fair price. Concidering the danger posed. I imagine teams that do similar salvages charge much more. Pretty awesome you did it alone in January. Manbearpig is well suited. Should getta tattoo.

I'm super duper cereal..This is the definition of manbearpig in the urban dictionary...
the single biggest threat to our planet. something out there which threatens our very existence and may be the end to the human race as we know it. i'm talking of course, about... "manbearpig." it is a creature which roams the earth alone. it is half man, half bear, and half pig! some people say that manbearpig isn't real. well, i'm here to tell you now, manbearpig is very real, and he most certainly exists! i'm cereal... manbearpig doesn't care who you are or what you've done. manbearpig simply wants to get you! i'm super cereal..
