I am from michigan and was wondering about your fishing quality. What is the average hook-ups per day during the peak season? If you happen to be wondering about Michign fishing at this time, it is great. Keeps getting better each season. The king salmon run is just beginning with some holes holding 40 or so fish in them. These fish are wild, bright, aggressive, and fresh. They are not the huge 50lb fish you have out there but they are quite large. A big fish would be around 35lbs with huge around 40. The pink salmon and fall steelheads are also beginning, but in less #'s than the kings. The St.Marys river has some atlantics left, and they will be there in fishable numbers until early winter. Had some days with 15+ hook-ups for them. Give me a hollar at RTKOVICH@AOL.COM

In the Northwest(where the salmon in the Great Lakes were broodstocked from) it depends on what season you are talking about. Spring/Summer/Fall/Winter Kings many rivers get kings all year. Summer/Winter&Native Steelhead. Summer/Fall Coho. Odd number year Pinks/Humpies. Summer Sockeye, Fall Chum. Dollies year round. Many of our rivers have holes that can hold large numbers of salmon 100+. Size?? possibility of hooking a 35lb king is great 40 very good as well and the odds of a 50-it can be done-not so much for the average joe. There are definately some 60-70lb kings that lurk our waters too! Average daily hook up during peak depends on species-but an example with say humpies or chummies-there are times you can say "this cast I will try not to hook one." Alaska-thats a whole different ballgame. Fish on!
