When a soldier is killed in the line of duty, his family eventually gets a flag and a note conveying sympathy and respect and from the United States Government. When a Black pro basketball player announces he is gay, he immediately gets a personal phone call from the President congratulating him for his courage. WTF?

Actually, any person who served in active duty in a time of war/conflict is currently granted a bugler to play taps and the flag that covered the government provided coffin in which that veteran could be interred into a national cemetery.

We live in a society that gets a stimulus check for $700 during times of war and the ongoing message is "go buy a new flat screen." Not, "save for a rainy day."
Front page news is Rihanna is back together with some guy who kicked the [Bleeeeep!] out of her.
We also live in a time and place where we're continually being f'd by a 2 party system that long ago stopped being "for the people." Yet, we're blind to the fact that our party of choice is 1 of those 2 parties.

I'm curious asto what it really is here that ticks you off. My suspicion is that what ticks you off is that the president congratuated a black man. He also congratulated and recognized a gay man.
You use the soldier as a comparison, but that's just a convenient way to express you bigot based anger.
The fact is that there will never be an adequate way to recognize the ultimate sacrifice a soldier makes. If we compared the level of recognition to the sacifice it will never balance. That does not mean that all other deeds should go unnoticed.
There was nothing wrong with President Obama calling a black gay basketball player after he was the first active major team sport athlete to come out. Your just hiding behind a dead soldier to vent your hate for black men and gay men.
You aren't too far removed from the Westboro Baptist Church in this regard.
You are a truly sad man.
Go Sox, cds Interesting If you don't agree with Oduma you are automatically a racist How original. I wonder what kind of lame excuse libs would use if oduma was white.

What is just as interesting was if you didn't agree with Dumbya that you were automatically labeled a commie that wanted to get everything from uncle sam. I wonder what kind of excuse the Coms would have if Dumbya would have been smart? Life member of the NRA and not a Replipuke! Fishy

I don't care if he disagrees with the President. If you read enough of Mr. Ducs posts a clear pattern emerges. This is just another example. cds GD, You're sure emotional Sally, sure you're not a cunny? lol

Someone needs to swing by Sol Dunce's house and drop off some tissues and tampons...a tube of Vagisil might ease his discomfort a bit, too.
Fish on...

i can understand where SD is coming from... we treat certian individuals differently from people that risk and lose their lives for this country... the people that fight for this country, should be put on a pedestal, and praised for what they do, not come home and struggle to try to live and cope with civilian life on their own, while some basketball player gets called and told he is a hero and a voice of the nation for saying he was gay... who gives a sh!t? you havent done anything, you just let everyone know something thats none of their business to begin with, bringing attention to yourself for what reason? the reason is he sucks, and likely doesnt have much money anymore... you could probably make a sh!t ton of money if you are the "first player in the history of sports to come out as gay", and write a book about it dont you think? as Chris Clemons said, it is unfair, and i agree with that... what players are doing by coming out, is taking away from the "team", its the "team" people should be talking about, and rooting for, not one individual because he was "brave" enough to come out and tell everyone he is gay.... same thing with religion, it has no place in sports, its noone business what you do with your life outside of the game, and if you choose to speak about it, then you chose to get ridiculed by individuals in this country because you know about free speech... some things are better left unsaid, and kept in your private life.... i personally dont have a problem with gays playing sports, but i dont need to know about it, because honestly, i dont give a rats ass what you do off the field, we arent friends, you aint my brother, so i dont give 2 sh!ts about your life outside of the game... do whatever you want, its none of my business, its your life... this isnt new however, and anyone that thinks that, isnt thinking correctly... this has been going on for longer than some of us have been alive, and you can read about what old Vince thought about it here: http://www.yardbarker.com/nfl/articles/m...s_team/13546436
