curious to hear other opinions about the local guides in the Forks area. those rivers are small enough that you encounter many guides per outing. my experience is that most are friendly and courteous, something thats rare on our Puget Sound area rivers. And I know of two or three that can pull fish from mud puddles year round. If you were going to spend a day fishing with one of the Forks area guides who would it be and why? By the way, although we don't know each other, I've found that our BB host has always been courteous (he's come around the corner and found me camped in the Goodman hole more than once, wondering how I got there so early). In my opinion there are a few that shouldn't be guiding either. Durring coho season this year, I overheard one guide who belittled his client everytime the guy would cast. What a way to drum up business. any thoughts??

Well what time of year, which river, plugging, fly fishing or bait casting? There are a lot of excellent guides in Forks area each one has one or more specialties.

I highly recommend J.D. Love. He uses a driftboat, knows the waters well (he lives on the Sol Duc), is an excellent boat handler, cares about the fish and environment, has excellent equipment, is very informed on the fish, fishery, and techniques, and his trip makes for an interesting and educational afternoon - as well as highly productive. My wife, a true rookie, and I landed, and released six fish to twenty pounds in March a couple of years ago.

Eric..currentdrifter....this board is Bob's baby! His money! Now why should he allow you to discuss the pros and cons of Forks guides. He's the BEST! And Eric, you don't sound like you would ever use a guide. Get a life and get another board for free advertising for your fishing freeloaders.

Sorry everyone, I feel it best to cut this one off.

I think it's a very interesting topic ... I have some pretty strong opinions both good and bad (on that note, I will mention that JD's a good egg ... I give his number out from time to time when I'm full).

However, let me explain what will happen here: someone will say something negative about an area guide. What will happen next will be that the negative comments will be attributed to me and not the actual person who left him (trust me, as the webmaster, I know how reactions to the site work) ... as such, I going to nip this can of worms in the bud right now. Again I apologize, I usually like to let just about everything go, but I guarantee you that this one will end up getting messy. Thanks for you understanding.
