Afternoon,

Can anyone recommend some good bank access locations on the Sky? I fished several spots last weekend between Monroe & Gold bar but nothing was happening. The river should be in better shape this weekend but I would like to concentrate on the most productive water (I'll be using drifting gear).

Also, I'm looking for a used 15-16 ft aluminum drift boat. Preferably Alumaweld or Willie.

Thanks,

If I was going, I'd fish at Reiter, but not at the terminal area for very long. I'ts good spoon fishing water upstream for at least 3/4 of a mile. The Lewis st. bridge and downstream from there will start getting the big nate's this time of year. The spoon is a banky's friend here also. Remember it's wild release. Have some fun!

Thanks Humpie, I did fish several spots below Lewis St and (lower) off of Ben Howard Rd. I didn't touch anything, but a boat got one just above me. I just put money down on a used 16 ft Alumaweld guide classic. Should have it ready to go in a week or two. See ya on the river!

Extra Stout,
Reiter is now closed 1000' below and 1500' above the creek mouth through the season and will probably reopen on August 1st due to the low return counts. Have fun with your drift boat and please be courteous to the rest of us landlocked metalhead addicts. Thanks

Kudakid, thanks for the info. I heard about the Reiter closure a couple weeks ago. I haven't fished that area at all to date. I may eventually head up there to take a look. Where is it by the way? Above Gold Bar? Also, you can count on boating courtesy from me. I've been a steelheader for many years, both in the boat and on the bank. I get really P.O. when I see driftboaters taking advantage of their mobility. See ya on the river!

What you want to do is follow R.2 east out of Gold Bar maybe 2 miles's, past the fire station. Look for Reiter Rd. it's a left, follow until the rd. take's a sharp left turn. At this point a road also go's forward, this is the way to the hatchery. When you cross a creek with a new bridge take the next right. When you get to the parking area the now closed stretch is just past the caretaker's house and rearing pond's. There is good path via an old RR enbankment upstream to the Intake hole, and downstream to the Cable hole. The closed section is never properly marked (what's up with that?) So my advice is to fish Intake and upstream with bobber and jig, or spoon's (5/8 oz.brass orange stripe Pot-o-Gold's),Cause that water will eat one drift rig after another. Enjoy releasing some beauty wild steelhead!
