I was talking to some family who live on the waterfront in Shelton and they said that the arrangement made with the tribes regarding the right to dig clams on any beach included the right to cross private dry land property to get to the beach. I can't believe that this is right. Does anyone know?

John,
yes,it`s true, actually when the right to do so was given to them, I think it was 1997 but they just never exercised thier right to do so till now. From what I`ve read though, they show a lot of respect for the property owners land, they always arrive by water, and they do as little harm as possible, just wish they felt the same way about the rivers and fish runs they harvest.

That would be in the Bremerton area...homeowners had mixed emotions about it!
