Haven't used one but they are made in China and look pretty flimsy. About on a par with the Chinese Traegers.
If you're going to spend 7-8-$900 on a pellet pooper, may as well throw down a little more and get a made in USA MAK or Yoder.

They don't really get hot enough to qualify as a grill. They're more of a smoker/convection oven.

I have a Green Mountain "Jim Bowie" model.
Very well built. 550 degrees is plenty hot for anything I am cooking. Will run down to 125 degrees when used as a smoker.
Put it this way......I gave away my "real" Treager and replaced it with this setup.
Brewer...PM me if you have any specific questions.

Well it seems we have two different sides of the spectrum. The difference is that I own one and have used it. I used to think that my Treager was the best ever. Don't get me wrong, the Treager was very nice however I happen to like my new one better.

if this comes from china, you would think the name would be something like the green mountain ganges kahn pellet grill. Not really. He was from Mongolia. Could name his cooker a Mongolian Grill.

Stick to the burn barrel w/ man hole cover grill you have now Brewer. This pellet deal sounds too smart for you. Some of these guys go full retard on their burn barrels...(Ugly Drum Smoker/UDS) http://www.bbq-brethren.com/forum/showthread.php?t=23436&page=645

chuck, thanks for the link. actually thanks for all the replies. looking forward to doing up some Chinese dirty burgers! Use that machine for what is was designed for. Brisket, ribs, pork butts, beer can chicken or hot smoking. Real BBQ is low and slow...read more about it. You can grill your Chinese burgers on the burn barrel.

You can grill your Chinese burgers on the burn barrel. I am also shopping for a grill/smoker right now so it was easy. Too damn many options, that I know MAK, Yoder and Memphis are some nice, non-disposable pellet burners to consider.

I prefer made in america overall but shopping for what is going to do what I need best. Toss some Hankbux into the budget.... Might be some deals around with BBQ season winding down. Wichita Hardware in Po land has good MAK prices Cabelas has dealt Yoder...might save on shipping ?
