Hey I am looking at buying electric downriggers and need some advice on where to buy. I have already looked at some and think that Scotty has a good unit. I just don't know where to get them. I live in Eastern Washington and our sporting good stores are not real good for stuff like that. Mail order on line would be good. Also, I am not to sure on what length of boom to get with a d'rigger. I mostly fish for silvers and have never had a d'rigger, just leaded line. I would appreciate any ideas !

I think Scotty's are the best. I use 3 1105's and usally never extend the booms. So I think 30 inch booms are fine usally. But somtimes I troll three at once in the wind or in a heavy current and find that extending the booms can be helpful. Also turning tight requires a good spread. Ive heard you can go to Barrys bait and tackle in Vancouver B.C. and get em for 250 each american. Outdoor Emporium in Seattle had 22 inch electrics for 269 I believe. That was not too long ago. Hope this helps.

Bob is right!! Berry's Bait and tackle in Richmond BC delivered 7 model 1100's (30" fixed) at my door for $262.00 ea. last year. Great people to work with, be sure and ask if they are still on "special" (all of last year). The model 1099 is fine but the boom is smaller diameter (not as strong) and I only see the need for the 36"+ booms for BIG boats. snit

Yup, Scotty 1100's is all you need. I know someone who repairs both Scottys and canons, and he is thinking about giving up the Canon repairs because he does so many of them that he is sick of them.

I was digging around the HUB page and found the Scotty 1100 for $380(?) Canadian. So the price hasn't changed much. I fish with 2- 1105's(only about $5 more) w/ expandable boom and love them.
I will probably be at the Sports show tomorrow so will take a look. Canadian shipping is more expensive than US. I don't think there is any duty if you ship them, but don't know for sure.

Got 1 1105 ordered today. I am going to give it try and if I like it I will order 1 more. Also got a swivel base for it. If you have an old manuel for sale I would be interested. I can't wait to use it I have never used one.

I just finished installing 2 new Scotty #1105 downriggers tonight. These are my first electrics and before this I used the Scotty manual #1085 for 5 years. The swivel base is important and you'll be glad you ordered one. If your thinking on buying a manual to go with your electric, check the prices in Canada first before buying used. You'll save money and there is no duty. I paid $237.00 each for a #1105 which would only buy you a manual in the states. The manual in Canada will be less expensive then the electrics. Be sure to ask for prices in US dollars for comparisons. I checked with Barry's but found better pricing at Tyee Marine (1-877-287-TYEE) in Campbell River B.C.. A good tip on another fishing site clued me in to Tyee. Sine you already ordered it's to late to offer anymore advice.

good luck with your riggers,

Hook

Hey, I bought a 1105 and will install it as soon as the weather breaks. I might tuff it out with one rigger untill I can get a nother 1105. I havent got the bill on the unit I bought but it was 489.00 ( canadian) that is with the swivel base plate and shipping. I am going this weekend to get weights for it a 6 and 10. I mostly lake fish for silvers and trout. I have never used downriggers so I am excited.-----fish on.
