Last Sunday, above the mouth of the Toutle. No fish, 10-15 other boats out. Didn't see any others caught but when we got back to the launch heard of two that were picked up that day. Also heard that below the Toutle was pretty brown from the rains earlier in the week. Used herring, kwikfish and eggs.

Fished the same place, day, & way as salmonhead with exactly the same results. We fished it last year and had allready caught 10 fish by this time. Most runs have been late this year. hopefully that and this rain will bring some fish in. Salmonhead what boat were you in? I have the white Duckworth..Where you on the hog line by the snag?

Thanks guys for the reports! i've never fished that part of the Cowlitz before and i don't have a boat.

I was hoping someone out there had some reports about Blue Creek and Barrier Dam?!

Anybody have anything on the Skykomish or any other rivers around Seattle??

I live in Spokane and only get to the west side a few times a year. Springers don't open over here until the middle of May.
No steelies to speak of at this time either.

I need some action!! I have the itch really bad!!!

If anyone is wondering steelhead was awesome on the Ronde this year!!!!!!

First week of April my buddy and myself hooked 26 and landed 13 for a 50% hooked to landing ratio. It was a great day of fishing!

Fish on!!!

Barnyard,
My Dad and I were in the white Harbercraft. We were trolling the stretch above where the hog line was. Didn't hog up at all Sunday.

I think I remember the boat. We got bit trolling that stretch a few weeks ago. Couldn't believe there weren't any fish hooked...

I know that there were a lot of silvers picked up in that stretch last fall. Do you know if the hole just above the bridge at Castle Rock is good for springers??? We picked up some nice silvers there last fall. I've been thinkin' about trying there and the hole about a 1/2 mile downstream from there next time we go out.

I fished Blue Creek last weekend and nothing didn't see anything caught either. I heard they're getting 2 or 3 a day at barrier and that's about it. Good Luck

salmonhead - We too caught a bunch of Fall Silvers down below, but I've never fished it for Springers. There's a hole about a mile UP from I-5 that used to produce but last year we caught all our fish where we fished last weekend. If you deceide to fish down below there is a launch at Camalot. Kinda shallow on the way up in spots. It's just a gravel bar but it's closer than Oliqua...Gonna try to sneak out this weekend for at least the morning bite. Will post if we do...

Barnyard,
We launched at Camelot a couple of times last fall, definetly four wheel drive country. I like the Olequa launch although it is a little longer run. The short water around Hog Island can be fun to. We won't be out this weekend due to other commitments (something about Easter???). We are headed for the Wind Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Thanks for the input on the lower Cowlitz. Tight lines, Jeff.
