at a spur of the moment im off to Alaska!! tonight! im shutting my computer off here in a second to pack it but im super excited...they are short handed couriers and cause I fish I was the first person that came to mind to go...they asked me and within 10 mins I got the ok from my hubby to go...he is already planning to try to get up there at least one weekend....could be up to 6 weeks im super excited...is there anything I need to try to do while im there? looks pretty isolated..not sure about the fishing this time of the year but im going to figure it out...might just have to do a guide trip im thinking...I also get 70 bucks a day for food so im going to do King Crab at least once...I never have had it....cant wait

Only been there during the cruise season. Probably a different place, and likely a better place, when the cruise ships leave town. im loving it here so far...the people are really nice...and all three of my co-workers are awesome we are going to more than likely hang out and check the town out this weekend...I have found some Coho an Dolly Varden at Ward Lake...I figured I would walk around the lake on Sunday when I took a drive..i walked around it today at lunch too...I didn't expect to turn the corner and see a raging river that I had to cross...there was a bridge...but I didn't expect it...I saw a humpback whale today but my camera was dead I have taken so many pics...ill try to post some...been tryin to get food in the hotel and somewhat settled in...its difficult to eat here without spending a ton of money so I have hit the grocery store but its expensive too..blew my budget every day so far...but I have a feeling with having lunch for the next couple days now I should be more settled...for instance I got and omlette and a ceasar salad to go for lunch and it was 34 bucks!!!

at least I get a new budget each day...70 bucks is do-able now that I have a few things in the hotel...it drives me insane there is no free breakfast..not even cereal or oatmeal! and this gets me NO COFFEE!!!! im not quite sure how they call this a Best Western PLUS...I have never been to a hotel that does not have free coffee in the lobby...I hate making coffee...my hubby does it for me at home...now I have to do it on my own...which just reminded me the housekeeper didn't give me any new coffee...I have to go to the lobby...photobucket is taking forever

There is a terminal fishery about 8 miles outside of Ketchikan at Herring Cove. Take the Tongass Hwy SE out of town.

A nice summer day in July. You will the see Airport to your starboard. We were heading out to Waterfall Resort in a an Otter. I got to sit in the second seat. We only got a short distance over Hollis Bay. Then went by van to Craig and then to Waterfall. Have a great time up there and leave some fish behind.

sweeeeet...im at the airport everyday loading and unloading the planes...its been pretty sweet...I will have to try to post the pics tomorrow...my boss flew into town today so we had to have dinner...just got back and im beat...had 3 beers...blew my budget again...50 bucks for dinner and 3 beers...this is not working out very good...70 bucks a day is hard to live off of when you don't have a stove I got a few more pics today...had to use 4 wheel drive twice today...that was kinda cool...the wind was blowing so hard that the ferry we took to the airport almost got beached on the shore cause the pilot could not drive it where it needed to go...I gave him a solid D- on his performance today...hopefully the wind will be better tomorrow I would be surprised if it was under 30 knots at any point before afternoon
