Heads up if you are thinking about going this weekend - From Cliff Mass http://cliffmass.blogspot.com/Finally, a number of the modeling systems are predicting that a deep low pressure center will approach our coast on Saturday morning. Here is the solution from the U.S. GFS model (the solid lines are isobars, lines of constant pressure) for 8 AM Saturday. Huge pressure difference (gradient) along the southern Oregon coast...with big winds (50-75 mph). The European Center model has the same low, but fuarther north and offshore. It will take a few days for the solutions to stabilize...but this is worth watching. The latest run is in...and it is getting more threatening for western Washington! This is valid 5 AM Saturday. Only a 108 hr forecast...close enough that you got to be concerned. 985 hPa low. This would be a major windstorm folks.

I'd go with ya Freddie, but I gotta put up fish for the smoker when I get home.
Mebbe try tomorrow after work.
Then again Saturday after the WDFW kick-off meeting for the new and improved Willapa plan in Raymond.

The weather finally gave us a breather and gave us a chance for a Clam or two before dark. 3 limits in short order for Mrs. fp, eyeFISH and myself tonight. A great time. fp

Funny how it was absolutely deserted on that stretch of beach.
Makes a guy wonder whether or not he's legal to dig there... ya think?

Peace, B.

After a stunning sunset drive to the beach, fp CM and eF took in a gorgeous night dig under the canopy of a billion stars and a sliver moon hovering just above the horizon. We were blessed with calm surf and the lightest of north winds.
Probably got there a half hour too early... before enough beach was exposed to readily reveal the wealth of BIG clams. But before long it was sure and steady digging for two while one held a lantern to light their way to limits.
