Now that the stream season is open, can anyone tell me how the water conditions are in the Touchet and Tucannon Rivers? I'm thinking about flyfishing either or both, but I have never been over there in the early season. I know they're great in September. I have usually fished Caddis on top or anything large and brown/black/grey like wooly bugger or stone fly nymph undernieth. Should I change tactics for fish in June, July?

Touchet has been high and somewhat muddy due to the large amount of rain we have been getting lately. Tucannon has been in real fishable shape, and doesn't go out as easily.Your choices of flies will work fine this time of year, and I also do well with a size 6 or 8 muddler minnow.

I've been doing really well on flys lately. The trout seem to be really hungry. Not gonna give away too much, but a size 10-12 bead head wooly bugger (black) has been real good if the water is high and off color. Other than that, mays, stones (probably not now) and caddis have also worked.

Hey Mike, how'd the Steelhead season treat you. I only got out about 3 times after Dec. That sucked. Got hosed on the Umatilla kings too. Oh well...Kings are still open there, I'll be back

Had a good steelhead year, and had the river to myself all spring. Noone was fishing it. Broke my heart. Would like to get together with you for some summer fly fishing. Call me. Going to Alaska 1st of July, then I should be free for some local fishing.
